DPO Dynamic Product Options vs VariPrice ‑ POS Custom Pricingfor Shopify (2026)
DPO Dynamic Product Options and VariPrice - POS Custom Pricing both aim to optimize pricing on Shopify, but they target fundamentally different needs. DPO Dynamic Product Options likely focuses on offering a range of customizable product options to customers, which can indirectly influence pricing based on the selected options. VariPrice, on the other hand, directly addresses the need for distinct pricing between online and physical POS locations. VariPrice stands out for its ability to avoid product duplication, streamlines inventory management, and bypasses potentially slow checkout processes stemming from custom sales products or discounts. DPO's high number of reviews suggests a broader user base and potentially a more established history. VariPrice, despite its perfect rating, has very few reviews, implying it may be a newer app or target a niche market. VariPrice is clearly aimed at Shopify merchants with both an online store and physical POS locations needing differentiated pricing strategies, while DPO likely caters to merchants who need complex product customization options with variable pricing based on choices.

Our Verdict
The best choice depends heavily on the merchant's specific needs. If the merchant requires comprehensive product customization options that may affect the final price, DPO Dynamic Product Options is likely the better choice. The high review count suggests a robust and well-tested app. However, if the primary need is to manage different pricing strategies for online and POS locations, VariPrice - POS Custom Pricing is the clear winner, despite the low review count. Its focused feature set and dashboard-driven approach specifically cater to this use case. Merchants should be aware of the internet connection requirement and incompatibility with cart transformer apps before choosing VariPrice.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
VariPrice is likely easier to set up due to its specific focus on managing prices between online and POS locations from a single dashboard. DPO Dynamic Product Options likely requires more complex configuration to define product options and associated price adjustments.
Which app provides better value for a small business with only an online store?
DPO Dynamic Product Options offers greater value. VariPrice is explicitly designed for businesses with both online and POS sales. For an online-only store, the features of VariPrice would be unnecessary.
Does either app offer volume discounts?
Based on the information provided, neither app explicitly mentions offering volume discounts. DPO Dynamic Product Options *might* be able to implement them through its dynamic option configurations, but it isn't a core feature advertised.
Which app is more scalable for a large enterprise?
Both apps likely have scalability limitations. DPO might become cumbersome with a vast catalog of dynamic product options, depending on its implementation. VariPrice's review count of only 2 suggests it may be less tested at enterprise scale. Further research or testing would be required to assess scalability for both apps at the enterprise level.
Which app is better for stores that rely heavily on upsells?
It's difficult to say from the available information. It would depend on how product options are leveraged within DPO. If 'upsells' can be created via product customization, then DPO might be helpful, else neither offers dedicated upselling tools.
