Détaxer avec SolPay vs Magic Tipsfor Shopify (2026)
Détaxer avec SolPay and Magic Tips are both Shopify apps in the 'Payment options - Other' category, but they serve entirely different purposes and target different merchant segments. Détaxer avec SolPay focuses on simplifying tax refunds (détaxe) for French merchants selling to international customers, aiming to automate the bordereaux (tax refund forms) generation process. In contrast, Magic Tips offers a straightforward way for merchants to solicit tips from customers on the post-purchase page, enhancing revenue potential. Détaxer avec SolPay positions itself as a solution for French businesses aiming to offer tax-free shopping to tourists, focusing on automation and compliance. The app requires merchants to contact SolPay to become a partner. On the other hand, Magic Tips caters to a broader audience by enabling tipping, with a focus on customizability in terms of trigger conditions, display elements, and tipping percentages. Its value proposition lies in boosting revenue through optional customer contributions. The apps have vastly different levels of adoption and validation. Détaxer avec SolPay boasts a perfect 5/5 rating based on 9 reviews, suggesting positive early feedback. Magic Tips, however, has no reviews and a 0/5 rating, indicating it is either very new or hasn't gained traction yet. This makes a direct feature comparison less meaningful without real-world user feedback on Magic Tips' performance and usability.

Our Verdict
For French merchants focused on attracting international tourists by offering tax-free shopping, Détaxer avec SolPay appears to be the better option, provided its partnership requirements are met and the pricing is acceptable. The positive reviews and automation features are appealing. However, merchants should carefully consider contacting SolPay and understanding the terms of the partnership before committing.
Magic Tips, while offering the potential for increased revenue through tipping, lacks any user feedback or validation at this time. Given its zero rating and lack of reviews, it's difficult to recommend without further evidence of its functionality and ease of use. For merchants looking to implement tipping, it might be prudent to investigate alternatives with more established track records.
