Easy Product Badges vs GrootApps ‑ Custom Metafieldsfor Shopify (2026)
Easy Product Badges and GrootApps ‑ Custom Metafields, while both operating within the Shopify ecosystem, cater to fundamentally different merchant needs. Easy Product Badges focuses on enhancing product discoverability through visually appealing and clickable badges that showcase collection affiliations directly on product pages. This app directly impacts customer navigation and potential upselling by prominently displaying related collections. Its core proposition revolves around ease of use, requiring minimal technical expertise for implementation and customization. In contrast, GrootApps ‑ Custom Metafields offers a far broader scope, empowering merchants with the ability to augment their Shopify data model with custom fields across various entities like products, collections, orders, and even the shop itself. This provides immense flexibility for storing and utilizing data beyond Shopify's standard fields, enabling customized workflows and reporting. However, this power comes with a steeper learning curve, particularly for merchants unfamiliar with metafields and their potential applications. The difference lies in the problem each app is solving: Easy Product Badges addresses product discoverability, while GrootApps addresses data customization and management.
