Easy Product Badges vs Metafields2for Shopify (2026)
Easy Product Badges and Metafields2 serve fundamentally different purposes within a Shopify store. Easy Product Badges focuses on visually highlighting product collections and improving discoverability by automatically creating clickable badges on product pages. Its primary strength lies in its ease of use for non-technical merchants who want to enhance product page navigation and promote relevant collections. The low review count, however, should be noted. Metafields2, on the other hand, is a utility app focused on managing and manipulating Shopify metafields, allowing for highly customized data and features across various store resources like products, collections, customers, and orders. The key difference lies in their application: Easy Product Badges provides a specific, front-end feature (badges) based on existing collections, while Metafields2 is a backend tool enabling broad customization capabilities for stores needing granular control over data. Easy Product Badges targets merchants seeking straightforward visual merchandising improvements, whereas Metafields2 caters to developers and technically proficient merchants who require advanced data management and store customization.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing visual merchandising and ease of use to quickly highlight related collections on product pages, Easy Product Badges is the more suitable choice. The lack of reviews is a significant drawback that warrants caution. For developers and merchants requiring advanced data customization and feature development through metafields, Metafields2 is the better option. Its broader functionality, allowing for data management across various store resources, is invaluable for stores with unique data requirements.
If a merchant simply wants badges to link collections, Easy Product Badges fits that need. However, if the goal is deep customisation across the store and data needs that extend beyond product badges, Metafields2, despite its lower rating (offset by a much higher review count), offers greater long-term potential, although it requires a more technical skill set.
