EasyCOD ‑ Cash On Delivery Fee vs OTP ‑ CoD Order Verificationfor Shopify (2026)
EasyCOD ‑ Cash On Delivery Fee and OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification both target the reduction of costs associated with Cash on Delivery (COD) orders, but they approach the problem from different angles. EasyCOD focuses on incentivizing prepaid orders and controlling COD availability based on various conditions, effectively screening out potentially unreliable customers. This app aims to reduce RTO (Return to Origin) by adding fees to COD orders and hiding COD options for specific customer segments. OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification, on the other hand, focuses on verifying COD orders using OTP (One-Time Password) via WhatsApp, SMS, or Email before fulfillment. Its primary goal is to prevent fake orders and reduce RTO by confirming the customer's intent to purchase, along with providing shipping status updates.

Our Verdict
If your primary concern is encouraging prepaid orders and proactively filtering out customers you suspect might not complete the purchase, EasyCOD ‑ Cash On Delivery Fee might be suitable, however the low rating should be a red flag and further research is advisable. However, for merchants grappling with a significant number of fake orders and who prefer a direct approach to confirming order validity, OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification appears to be the stronger choice. The OTP verification process provides a direct line of communication with the customer and offers a high degree of confidence in order validity. Keep in mind both apps have very low review counts, implying a small sample size of users.
Common Questions
Which app is better for reducing RTO due to fake orders?
OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification is specifically designed to combat fake orders by verifying the customer's intent via OTP before processing the order. EasyCOD indirectly reduces RTO by discouraging COD orders and limiting availability, but does not directly verify order validity.
Does EasyCOD provide customer updates like OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification?
No, EasyCOD's focus is on controlling COD availability and adding fees. It doesn't appear to offer automated customer updates regarding order status like OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification does through WhatsApp/SMS/Email.
Which app is more suitable for international stores?
OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification explicitly mentions support for WhatsApp verification in countries like India, Pakistan, and the Philippines, as well as SMS OTP in Egypt. EasyCOD does mention customer location as criteria for disabling COD, suggesting international functionality, but does not highlight specific region support. OTP appears better positioned for certain international markets.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification highlights its 'Built-in Shopify OTP verification' which suggests potentially easy setup. The data available on EasyCOD doesn't provide clues about ease of setup.
If I just want to add a COD fee, which app is better?
EasyCOD ‑ Cash On Delivery Fee is specifically designed to add a COD fee. While OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification doesn't directly add a COD fee, the cost savings from reduced fake orders might offset any revenue lost from the lack of a COD fee. If your only goal is a fee, EasyCOD appears more direct, but its low rating should still cause concern.
