EasyFlow Product Options vs Variant Description OMGfor Shopify (2026)
EasyFlow Product Options and Variant Description OMG both address product customization on Shopify, but they target very different needs. EasyFlow Product Options is a comprehensive solution focused on *creating* complex product configurations with unlimited options, personalized fields, and dynamic pricing. It allows customers to fully customize products through a variety of input methods like text boxes, image swatches, and file uploads. This app aims to increase average order value through upsells and conditional logic based on customer choices. Variant Description OMG, conversely, focuses on *clarifying* existing product variants by adding detailed descriptions and displaying metafields for each one. Variant Description OMG seeks to improve the customer experience by providing specific information about each variant (e.g., shipping times, materials, sizing) to reduce confusion and returns. The app emphasizes easy integration and use through a rich text editor and bulk import/export functionality. While EasyFlow Product Options is suited for merchants selling highly customizable products, Variant Description OMG is ideal for stores with complex product catalogs where variants need clear and distinct explanations.

Our Verdict
For merchants selling highly customizable products requiring dynamic pricing and numerous input options, EasyFlow Product Options is the clear choice. Its extensive feature set enables complex product configurations and personalized customer experiences. However, for stores needing to clarify existing product variants with detailed descriptions and metafields, Variant Description OMG is the more suitable option. It simplifies the presentation of complex product information, leading to improved customer satisfaction and reduced returns. If you need to create a large number of variants, EasyFlow Product Options is also the better option.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
Variant Description OMG is likely easier to use due to its focus on simple descriptions and metafield display, requiring no coding. EasyFlow Product Options, with its extensive customization options and conditional logic, may have a steeper learning curve.
Which app is better for increasing average order value?
EasyFlow Product Options is specifically designed to increase AOV through upsells and dynamic pricing based on product customization choices.
Can Variant Description OMG create new product variants?
No, Variant Description OMG focuses on *describing* existing variants, not creating new ones. EasyFlow Product Options focuses on *creating* more product variants.
Does EasyFlow Product Options work with metafields?
The description doesn't explicitly mention metafields, but given its comprehensive feature set, integration with Shopify's metafields system is likely, or could be easily integrated by 2026. Contacting the app developer would confirm this.
Which app is better for apparel stores?
It depends on the store. If the apparel store allows for truly custom designs (e.g. prints a custom image on clothing or adds a monogram), EasyFlow Product Options will be more useful.
