EasySell COD Form & Upsells vs Variant Option Product Optionsfor Shopify (2026)
EasySell COD Form & Upsells and Variant Option Product Options cater to distinct needs within the Shopify ecosystem. EasySell is primarily focused on streamlining cash-on-delivery orders and boosting sales through upselling and order recovery tactics. Its strength lies in simplifying the COD process, reducing fake orders, and integrating with popular marketing platforms for tracking. Variant Option Product Options, on the other hand, addresses the limitations of Shopify's native variant system, enabling merchants to offer unlimited product options, custom configurations, and personalized products. The key difference lies in their core functionalities. EasySell is a conversion optimization tool built around COD orders, aiming to minimize friction in the checkout process, especially in regions where COD is prevalent. Variant Option Product Options empowers merchants selling customizable products to offer a wider range of variations and personalization options that Shopify's default system cannot handle. While both apps aim to increase sales, they achieve this through different mechanisms: EasySell through optimized COD and targeted offers, and Variant Option Product Options through increased product customization and configuration possibilities.

Our Verdict
The choice between EasySell COD Form & Upsells and Variant Option Product Options depends heavily on the specific business model. If a merchant relies heavily on Cash on Delivery and wants to optimize that process while increasing average order value, EasySell is the clear choice. Its OTP verification and order form optimization are specifically designed to address the challenges associated with COD.
However, for merchants selling products with numerous variations, requiring complex customization options, or offering personalized products, Variant Option Product Options is the more suitable option. It overcomes the limitations of Shopify's variant system and allows for a richer, more customizable product experience. If a store doesn't use COD, EasySell's core functionality becomes irrelevant, making Variant Option Product Options the better pick for custom product sales.
Common Questions
Which app is better for increasing AOV (Average Order Value)?
Both apps can contribute to increased AOV. EasySell does it through upselling and quantity offers. Variant Option Product Options increases AOV through price add-ons for custom options and offering more diverse product configurations.
Can I use both apps together?
Potentially, but it depends on the specific products and store setup. If you sell customizable products via COD, they *might* work together, but careful configuration would be needed to avoid conflicts. If you don't use COD, EasySell is irrelevant.
Which app helps prevent fake orders?
EasySell COD Form & Upsells directly addresses this issue with its phone number verification via SMS/WhatsApp, IP address blocking, and postal code limitations. Variant Option Product Options does not offer features specifically designed to combat fake orders.
Does Variant Option Product Options work with Shopify's native variant system?
Variant Option Product Options *overcomes* the limitations of Shopify's native variant system. It allows you to go beyond the 3 option/100 variant limit.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
EasySell's setup likely focuses on customizing the COD form and setting up upsells, which is relatively straightforward. Variant Option Product Options might require more time to configure, especially for complex product options and configurations. However, without user experience data, this is speculative.
