Ecologi: Plant Trees per Sale vs Shopney ‑ Mobile App Builderfor Shopify (2026)
Ecologi: Plant Trees per Sale and Shopney ‑ Mobile App Builder target fundamentally different aspects of a Shopify business. Ecologi focuses on environmental sustainability and customer engagement through tree planting, allowing merchants to integrate a positive social impact directly into their sales process. Its primary appeal lies in showcasing ecological commitment and building brand affinity. Shopney, on the other hand, is all about optimizing the mobile shopping experience. It offers a no-code solution for creating native iOS and Android apps, designed to boost conversions, increase customer retention, and reduce reliance on expensive marketing channels. The key difference lies in their core functionality: Ecologi enhances brand image and customer perception through eco-friendly practices, while Shopney directly impacts sales and customer loyalty by improving the mobile shopping journey. One is focused on marketing and brand values, the other on mobile commerce performance. While both contribute to customer loyalty (as they share a Shopify category), they approach it from vastly different angles. The rating discrepancy is also significant, with Shopney having both a higher rating and a far greater number of reviews, suggesting wider user satisfaction and a more established track record.

Our Verdict
The choice between Ecologi and Shopney hinges on a merchant's priorities. If a business is committed to sustainability and wants to leverage eco-friendly practices for marketing and brand building, Ecologi is the clear choice. The free trial of 100 trees makes it easy to test the app and see if it resonates with customers. However, for businesses struggling with mobile sales or seeking to reduce reliance on expensive marketing ads, Shopney is the stronger contender. Its high rating and numerous positive reviews suggest a reliable and effective solution for mobile app development.
Ultimately, the apps address different needs. A merchant could even consider using both, with Ecologi enhancing brand image and Shopney driving sales through a better mobile experience. But given the differing costs associated with each (Ecologi scales with trees planted, Shopney involves app development and maintenance), merchants need to assess their budgets and strategic goals before choosing.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Both apps appear to prioritize ease of use. Ecologi offers simple drag-and-drop widgets, while Shopney boasts a no-code app builder. However, creating and managing a mobile app using Shopney will likely involve a greater time investment than implementing Ecologi's widgets.
Which app is more likely to directly increase sales?
Shopney is more directly geared toward increasing sales through improved mobile commerce. Ecologi may indirectly influence sales by attracting environmentally conscious customers, but the effect is less direct.
Which app is a better investment for a new Shopify store?
It depends on the new store's priorities. If building a brand identity centered on sustainability is crucial, Ecologi offers an appealing entry point with its free trial. If mobile sales are a key focus from the start, Shopney could be beneficial, though potentially more expensive upfront.
Do these apps integrate with other Shopify apps?
Shopney explicitly mentions a rich integration suite with top Shopify apps. Ecologi does not specifically state integrations, but its core functionality likely focuses on theme customization and data reporting.
What are the potential downsides of using each app?
For Ecologi, the cost of planting trees can scale with sales volume. For Shopney, there's an ongoing commitment to mobile app maintenance and updates, potentially requiring technical expertise or continued support.
