EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift vs Hitsy Progress Barfor Shopify (2026)
EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift and Hitsy Progress Bar both aim to improve the customer experience and drive sales within Shopify stores, but they approach this goal with very different strategies. EG Auto Add to Cart focuses on automating the process of adding free gifts or related products to the cart based on predefined rules, effectively implementing BOGO and Buy X Get Y offers. It directly manipulates the cart contents, aiming to increase average order value through immediate upsells. Its primary strength lies in the robust rule engine for automating gift-based promotions. Hitsy Progress Bar, on the other hand, provides a visual representation of how close a customer is to unlocking rewards like free shipping, order discounts, or free gifts. Rather than automatically adding items to the cart, it uses gamification and visual cues to incentivize customers to add more items or spend more to reach reward tiers. Its strengths lie in its customizable design, multi-tier reward system, and focus on visual motivation and transparency. It is positioned to drive sales subtly using user engagement and positive reinforcement.

Our Verdict
If a merchant wants a hands-off approach that automatically adds gifts to carts based on certain triggers, and they are focused on maximizing cart value through immediate action, EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift is the better choice. This app is perfect for stores with a high volume of transactions and limited time to manually manage promotions.
Conversely, if a merchant values a more subtle approach to upselling, wants to visually engage customers, and offer clear reward tiers like free shipping, Hitsy Progress Bar is the superior option. This is well-suited for stores that want to build customer loyalty and provide a transparent shopping experience. Given the significantly higher number of reviews and similar rating, EG Auto Add to Cart may offer more reliability or feature depth, although this depends entirely on individual merchant needs.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Both apps claim to have user-friendly interfaces. EG Auto Add to Cart emphasizes the simplicity of its rule creation, while Hitsy Progress Bar highlights its Shopify-native interface and responsive customer support. Without direct testing, it's difficult to definitively say which is easier, but both appear to prioritize ease of use.
Can I use both apps at the same time?
Potentially, but it could lead to a confusing customer experience. EG Auto Add to Cart directly modifies the cart, while Hitsy Progress Bar visually encourages changes. Combining them could result in unexpected cart additions that conflict with the progress bar incentives. Careful consideration of the overlapping functionality is needed.
Which app is better for increasing average order value (AOV)?
Both aim to increase AOV, but through different methods. EG Auto Add to Cart does so by automatically adding items. Hitsy Progress Bar encourages customers to add more items to reach a reward tier. The 'better' app depends on your target audience's shopping behavior. If customers respond well to immediate gratification, EG Auto Add to Cart might be more effective. If they are motivated by goals and rewards, Hitsy Progress Bar could be better.
Does either app offer A/B testing?
Neither app description explicitly mentions A/B testing capabilities. It is recommended to contact the app developers directly to confirm if A/B testing is supported.
Which app is more budget-friendly?
The provided descriptions lack pricing information. You would need to check the Shopify App Store for each app's pricing plans and any associated free trials or tiers to determine which is more budget-friendly.
