EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift vs Post Purchase Upsell—ReSellfor Shopify (2026)
EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift and Post Purchase Upsell—ReSell both aim to increase sales for Shopify merchants, but they tackle the problem from different angles. EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift focuses on pre-purchase upsells and promotions by automatically adding free gifts or products to the cart based on rules. The primary difference lies in the timing of the upsell or cross-sell attempt. This distinction also affects the user experience and the types of offers that are most effective. EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift uses rules based on cart value or products, while Post Purchase Upsell—ReSell leverages product recommendations and frequently bought together suggestions, focusing on automated campaigns to maximize AOV without increased ad spending.

Our Verdict
For merchants looking to implement pre-purchase promotions, such as BOGO deals or free gifts with purchase, EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift is the stronger choice, especially given its significantly higher number of positive reviews suggesting strong user satisfaction. Its rules-based system makes it suitable for merchants with specific promotional strategies in mind.
However, for merchants primarily focused on maximizing AOV after a purchase has been made and who want to capitalize on post-purchase impulse buys and recommendations, Post Purchase Upsell—ReSell provides a more targeted solution. While its review count is lower, its focus on one-click upsells and thank you page promotions offers a different avenue for increasing sales. The 'Frequently bought together' feature could provide unique value for certain stores.
