Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a proven, widely adopted solution with comprehensive scheduling capabilities and detailed rule creation for sophisticated upselling strategies, EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift appears to be the stronger choice, evidenced by its high rating and significant number of reviews. Its focus on scheduling rules for BOGO and Buy X Get Y offers and detailed offer triggers (based on products, collections, or cart totals) offer great flexibility.
However, if a merchant prioritizes ease of use, clear in-cart communication via popups/notifications, and a more straightforward rule creation process, Vex Auto Add To Cart Free Gift is a viable option. While it has fewer reviews, its slightly lower rating is still positive, and its emphasis on simplicity and customer notification features might make it a better fit for stores with less complex promotional needs. The claim of unlimited rules in Vex could also be a deciding factor if the merchant plans on having a large amount of promotions.
