Ekookie ‑ Consent V2 ready vs PieEyefor Shopify (2026)
In 2026, Shopify merchants seeking a cookie consent solution have a choice between Ekookie ‑ Consent V2 ready and PieEye. Ekookie emphasizes a user-friendly and engaging approach to GDPR compliance, focusing on transparency and fun through its customizable and educational cookie banner. It directly addresses the core requirement of obtaining user consent before deploying cookies, ensuring merchants meet GDPR stipulations regarding consent storage. PieEye, on the other hand, positions itself as a complete GDPR/CCPA/CPRA compliance solution, offering not only cookie consent management but also a Data Subject Request (DSR) portal and automated DSR fulfillment, targeting merchants needing comprehensive privacy compliance tools. While Ekookie focuses solely on consent management through an interactive and customizable cookie banner experience, PieEye extends its features to cover the broader spectrum of data privacy regulations. This includes offering DSR automation, which is a significant advantage for merchants handling a large volume of data requests. This difference in scope suggests Ekookie is best suited for merchants primarily concerned with GDPR cookie consent requirements, while PieEye is geared towards those needing a comprehensive privacy compliance solution encompassing consent management and DSR automation. The lack of user reviews for PieEye is a potential drawback, while Ekookie boasts a perfect rating based on a few reviews.

Our Verdict
For smaller Shopify stores or those primarily concerned with GDPR cookie consent requirements, Ekookie ‑ Consent V2 ready provides a user-friendly and engaging solution. Its focus on transparency, customization, and ease of use makes it ideal for merchants who want a straightforward approach to cookie compliance. The perfect rating, even with limited reviews, suggests a positive initial user experience.
However, for larger Shopify stores or those operating in regions with stricter privacy laws such as CCPA/CPRA, PieEye offers a more comprehensive solution. Its DSR management and automation features can save significant time and resources, making it a valuable investment for merchants needing to comply with a wider range of privacy regulations. While the lack of reviews is a concern, the breadth of features may outweigh the risk for merchants with complex compliance needs.
