Empact EU/UK VAT automation vs Finaloopfor Shopify (2026)
Empact EU/UK VAT automation and Finaloop are both Shopify apps in the Finances category, but they address vastly different needs. Empact focuses specifically on automating EU/UK VAT compliance, targeting global e-commerce businesses selling into the EU. Its core promise is to remove the VAT compliance burden by providing VAT numbers, automating reporting, and offering solutions for cross-border sales. Finaloop, on the other hand, is a full-service accounting solution tailored for e-commerce businesses, offering real-time bookkeeping, inventory management, and financial reporting. It aims to provide founders with clear financial visibility and tax-ready financials. The fundamental difference lies in their scope. Empact is a niche solution addressing a specific regulatory challenge (EU/UK VAT). Finaloop is a comprehensive accounting system offering a wide range of financial management tools. Empact’s value proposition hinges on simplifying VAT compliance for non-EU/UK sellers, while Finaloop aims to provide a holistic financial overview and streamline accounting processes. The absence of reviews for Empact, compared to Finaloop's positive reviews, is a significant consideration.

Our Verdict
Finaloop is the clear winner for most e-commerce merchants looking for a comprehensive accounting solution. Its 5-star rating and positive reviews indicate user satisfaction and reliability. It offers a wide range of features, including bookkeeping, inventory management, and financial reporting, making it a valuable asset for businesses of all sizes.
Empact, while promising, is a much riskier choice due to its lack of reviews. It's only suitable for businesses with very specific VAT compliance needs in the EU/UK and who are comfortable being early adopters of an unproven app. If VAT compliance is your *only* financial pain point, and you're a risk-taker, Empact *might* be worth exploring *after* verifying their legitimacy and VAT number provision. However, Finaloop provides a more established and robust financial management platform for the vast majority of e-commerce businesses.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
Without user reviews for Empact, it's impossible to definitively say. Finaloop's full-service approach with expert accountants suggests a smoother onboarding process and ongoing support. Empact's ease of use depends on the complexity of its VAT automation process.
Which app is more affordable?
Pricing information isn't provided, making a direct comparison impossible. However, consider the scope of each app. Empact focuses on VAT, potentially making it more affordable if that's your only concern. Finaloop, as a full-service solution, will likely be more expensive, but potentially a better value overall.
Does Finaloop handle EU/UK VAT?
Finaloop handles overall accounting, including VAT. While it doesn't specialize solely in VAT automation like Empact claims to, its expert accountants should be able to manage VAT compliance as part of its bookkeeping services. It would be prudent to confirm this with Finaloop directly.
What if I only need VAT compliance help?
If VAT compliance is your sole concern, Empact *could* be a solution, but the lack of reviews makes it a risky one. Carefully vet their claims regarding VAT number provision. Explore established VAT compliance services instead, potentially integrated with your existing accounting software.
Is Finaloop suitable for small businesses?
Yes, Finaloop is suitable for small businesses. Its focus on providing real-time financial dashboards and simplifying bookkeeping is especially valuable for founders who may not have extensive financial expertise. The inventory sync feature is crucial for e-commerce businesses of all sizes.
