Enchiridion ‑ Product Manuals vs Smart Stories | Video Storyfor Shopify (2026)
Enchiridion ‑ Product Manuals and Smart Stories | Video Story are two Shopify apps in the 'Images and media - Other' category, but cater to vastly different needs. Enchiridion focuses on providing product documentation through downloadable manuals, targeting merchants who sell products requiring instructions or specifications. Smart Stories | Video Story, on the other hand, is designed to enhance customer engagement and drive sales through short-form video content, similar to Instagram or Snapchat stories. Their core functionalities are therefore mutually exclusive, serving different areas of a Shopify store's operation. The critical difference lies in their focus. Enchiridion emphasizes product information accessibility, allowing merchants to offer variant-specific manuals in various file formats. Smart Stories | Video Story prioritizes visual marketing, enabling merchants to create engaging video stories with shoppable features. Considering the substantial rating and review disparities, Smart Stories boasts significantly more positive feedback and appears to be a more mature and reliable solution in its niche, despite the potential use cases being completely different. Enchiridion aims to improve product understanding whereas Smart Stories is focused on marketing and driving sales.

Our Verdict
The choice between Enchiridion ‑ Product Manuals and Smart Stories | Video Story depends entirely on the merchant's specific needs. If the priority is to provide customers with easy access to product manuals and specifications, Enchiridion is the relevant app, however, it has very poor ratings and reviews. For merchants focused on visually engaging customers and boosting sales through short-form video content, Smart Stories | Video Story is the superior option. Given the significant difference in ratings and review volume, Smart Stories | Video Story appears to be a more established and positively received app, although the apps aren't competitors in any sense.
Merchants should carefully evaluate whether their priority is product information delivery or visual marketing. If product documentation is crucial for their products, they might consider exploring alternatives to Enchiridion given its low rating, focusing on apps with better reviews and features. For merchants seeking to enhance their marketing strategy with video stories, Smart Stories | Video Story appears to be a strong contender.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
Both apps claim ease of use through features like drag-and-drop interfaces. However, without user reviews directly comparing ease of use, it's difficult to definitively say which is easier. Smart Stories leverages a familiar interface similar to Instagram, which may make it easier for users accustomed to that platform.
Which app is better for increasing sales?
Smart Stories | Video Story is explicitly designed to increase sales through shoppable video stories and enhanced customer engagement. Enchiridion may indirectly contribute to sales by improving customer understanding and reducing returns, but it is not a direct sales tool.
Which app supports more file types?
Enchiridion lists a range of supported file types including png, jpeg, pdf, mov, mp4, zip, psd. Smart Stories | Video Story focuses primarily on video files and images used within video stories, implying less file type versatility.
Which app is better for a new Shopify store?
If the new store sells products requiring documentation, the need for Enchiridion (or an alternative) exists. If the new store is heavily reliant on visual marketing and story telling, then Smart Stories is better suited. However, the low rating for Enchiridion makes it a riskier choice for a new store needing reliable documentation support. A new store might find more immediate benefit from Smart Stories | Video Story in terms of brand building.
Can I use both apps together?
Yes, you can use both apps together since they serve different purposes. One delivers product information and the other presents compelling marketing videos. There is no functional conflict between these apps.
