EPOS Integration & Sync vs Materials Inventoryfor Shopify (2026)
EPOS Integration & Sync and Materials Inventory represent distinctly different approaches to inventory management for Shopify merchants in 2026. EPOS Integration & Sync positions itself as a direct integration solution for businesses with a physical store using the EPOS V5 platform. Its core strength lies in synchronizing sales and inventory data between the physical store and the Shopify online store, aiming to reduce manual effort and ensure consistent data across both channels. Conversely, Materials Inventory focuses on manufacturers and makers, providing tools for managing raw materials, tracking production costs, and calculating product profitability. It emphasizes preventing overselling and stockouts through real-time inventory updates and proactive purchase order management. The two apps serve different needs: one for retailers with an existing EPOS system, the other for businesses engaged in manufacturing or assembly.

Our Verdict
The choice between EPOS Integration & Sync and Materials Inventory depends heavily on the nature of the Shopify business. For retailers already using EPOS V5 and seeking to seamlessly integrate their physical and online inventory, EPOS Integration & Sync is the logical choice, assuming it delivers on its synchronization promises. However, the lack of reviews is a significant risk. For manufacturers or businesses that assemble products from raw materials, Materials Inventory offers a comprehensive solution for managing inventory levels, tracking costs, and ensuring profitability. Given its high rating and numerous positive reviews, Materials Inventory appears to be a more reliable option for its target audience. Without knowing the pricing for either app, it is impossible to comment on value for money.
Common Questions
Does EPOS Integration & Sync work with EPOS systems other than V5?
Based on the description, EPOS Integration & Sync is specifically designed for integration with the EPOS V5 platform. There's no indication it supports other EPOS systems.
Can Materials Inventory integrate with a physical POS system?
The description of Materials Inventory focuses on raw material and product management for makers. It does not mention integration with physical POS systems. Its primary focus is on Shopify inventory and preventing stock issues.
Which app is better for a dropshipping business?
Neither app appears to be optimized for dropshipping. Materials Inventory might offer some raw material tracking capabilities if the dropshipping business involved custom packaging or components, but generally, a dropshipping business does not hold inventory, so neither app would be a good fit.
What happens if the EPOS V5 platform updates? Will EPOS Integration & Sync still work?
The functionality of EPOS Integration & Sync after an EPOS V5 update would depend on the app developer's responsiveness to maintain compatibility. It's a risk factor to consider, given the app's lack of reviews suggesting a mature user base to hold them accountable. In comparison, Materials Inventory operates independently of POS systems, removing the single point of failure to an external platform update.
Can Materials Inventory manage inventory across multiple Shopify stores?
The description of Materials Inventory doesn't explicitly mention multi-store support. Additional research might be required to confirm whether it can manage inventory across multiple Shopify stores from a single account.
