Essential AB Test ‑ Split Test vs SEO On: AEO optimizer LLMs.txtfor Shopify (2026)
Essential AB Test ‑ Split Test and SEO On: AEO optimizer LLMs.txt both aim to improve Shopify store performance, but they tackle vastly different aspects. Essential AB Test focuses on conversion rate optimization (CRO) through A/B testing of theme templates. It explicitly targets merchants seeking to optimize their store design and layout without coding expertise. SEO On, on the other hand, implicitly (based on its name) focuses on search engine optimization (SEO) and potentially automated engine optimization (AEO), likely leveraging LLMs for improved search engine visibility. The critical difference lies in their core functionality. Essential AB Test provides a platform for experimentation and data-driven decision-making about website design. Merchants can directly compare different versions of product pages, collections, and landing pages. SEO On, conversely, presumably automates SEO tasks and potentially manages aspects like LLMs.txt, aiming to improve organic search rankings. Despite both having perfect 5/5 ratings, the significant difference in the number of reviews suggests a considerably larger user base for SEO On, indicating it is a more popular solution, although the lack of data prevents any conclusions as to *why* it is more popular.

Our Verdict
Choosing between Essential AB Test and SEO On depends entirely on the merchant's primary need. If the goal is to optimize the store's design and layout to improve conversion rates, Essential AB Test is the clear choice. Its strength lies in empowering merchants to test different themes and templates without coding.
On the other hand, if the priority is to improve organic search engine rankings and increase visibility, SEO On: AEO optimizer LLMs.txt is likely the better solution. It is probable that SEO On automates key SEO processes, making it an appealing choice for merchants who lack deep SEO expertise. While both apps have excellent ratings, the significantly larger number of reviews for SEO On suggests that it is more widely adopted, potentially due to its ability to directly impact traffic and acquisition, but with limited information, the choice still comes down to the desired outcome: conversion rate vs traffic.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use for a non-technical user?
Based on the descriptions, Essential AB Test explicitly states it requires no coding and offers a simple setup, suggesting it's more user-friendly for non-technical users. The ease of use for SEO On: AEO optimizer LLMs.txt is not specified but as AEO is in its name, implies automation features.
What kind of ROI can I expect from each app?
Essential AB Test promises increased sales through conversion optimization, making its ROI directly tied to improvements in conversion rate. SEO On aims to increase organic traffic, with the ROI dependent on the conversion rate of that traffic into paying customers. ROI will vary depending on the individual store and its current performance.
Do these apps integrate with other Shopify apps?
The descriptions do not provide information about integrations with other Shopify apps. Further research is necessary to determine compatibility.
Can I use both apps simultaneously?
Yes, theoretically, you could use both apps simultaneously. They address different aspects of store optimization (CRO and SEO), so they should not directly conflict. However, monitoring the store's overall performance after implementing both is crucial to identify any unforeseen issues.
Which app is better for a brand-new store?
For a brand-new store, SEO On: AEO optimizer LLMs.txt might be more beneficial initially to drive organic traffic and establish a baseline. Once traffic is established, Essential AB Test can be used to optimize the user experience and conversion rates. However, it also depends on whether the store owner has the time to set up A/B tests or just wants to focus on traffic in the early days.
