Essential Announcement Bar vs Formify: custom checkout formsfor Shopify (2026)
Essential Announcement Bar and Formify: custom checkout forms both aim to enhance the Shopify merchant's ability to communicate with customers, but they tackle entirely different aspects of the customer journey. Essential Announcement Bar focuses on driving immediate sales and highlighting promotions through visually engaging announcement bars placed prominently on the store. It utilizes features like scrolling, rotating, and sticky bars with call-to-action buttons to draw attention to special offers. Conversely, Formify concentrates on optimizing the checkout process itself by enabling merchants to gather specific customer information and tailor the checkout experience to individual needs. It prioritizes data collection and personalized experiences, facilitating improved customer support and targeted marketing strategies. Both share the 'Notifications' category, but their practical applications are worlds apart. The primary difference lies in their core functionality and target merchant profile. Essential Announcement Bar targets merchants seeking to boost sales through highly visible promotions and immediate offers. Its features are designed for maximizing click-through rates and driving conversions. Formify, on the other hand, caters to merchants who need to collect additional data during checkout for various purposes, such as personalized product recommendations, understanding customer preferences, or improving shipping logistics. It is a data collection tool first and foremost, impacting the checkout process itself rather than pre-purchase browsing.

Our Verdict
For merchants focused on immediately boosting sales and highlighting promotions through highly visible banners, Essential Announcement Bar is the clear choice. Its range of announcement bar types and emphasis on driving traffic to specific pages make it ideal for flash sales and time-sensitive offers. However, for businesses prioritizing data collection during checkout to improve customer understanding, personalize the shopping experience, or gather order-specific details, Formify is the superior option. It empowers merchants to tailor the checkout process and gain valuable insights into customer preferences. While Essential Announcement Bar boasts a high number of reviews, Formify's low review count doesn't negate its utility for niche applications centered around checkout optimization.
