Essential Announcement Bar vs Shopify Formsfor Shopify (2026)
Essential Announcement Bar and Shopify Forms both fall under the "Notifications" category on Shopify, but they serve very different purposes and target distinct merchant needs. Essential Announcement Bar focuses on visually prominent, attention-grabbing announcements, typically related to sales, promotions, or important store updates. It utilizes features like scrolling, rotating, and sticky bars to maximize visibility and direct traffic using call-to-action buttons. Its strength lies in its ability to immediately impact sales through engaging banners. Shopify Forms, on the other hand, centers around lead generation and customer data collection. It allows merchants to create customizable inline and pop-up forms to gather information like email addresses, wholesale inquiries, or general business data. While also capable of increasing sales, its primary goal is building a contact list, segmenting customers, and personalizing engagement. The integration with the Shopify ecosystem streamlines data management and leverages the vast Shopify user base. The apps differ greatly in functionality, so merchants will need to identify whether announcements or contact form functionality is a greater need.
