Essential ‑ Back In Stock Pro vs Hey!Scarcity Low Stock Counterfor Shopify (2026)
Essential ‑ Back In Stock Pro focuses on recovering lost sales by notifying customers when out-of-stock items are restocked. It aims to recapture demand that already exists. It provides a waitlist management system, allows customization of signup forms, and supports various page types. Its strength lies in its ability to directly address customer demand for unavailable products and retain potential sales. Hey!Scarcity Low Stock Counter, on the other hand, aims to increase conversion rates by creating a sense of urgency and scarcity through the display of stock levels and countdown timers. The key difference between the two apps lies in their primary objectives. Essential ‑ Back In Stock Pro is designed to recover lost sales on items that are already out of stock and build a waitlist, while Hey!Scarcity Low Stock Counter aims to increase sales on items that *are* still in stock but may be running low. The former is reactive, the latter is proactive. Hey!Scarcity is geared towards encouraging impulse purchases and reducing customer hesitation. While both ultimately aim to increase revenue, they achieve this through fundamentally different approaches: one by re-engaging interest, the other by stimulating it.

Our Verdict
For merchants who frequently encounter out-of-stock situations and want to recapture lost sales by actively notifying interested customers upon restocking, Essential ‑ Back In Stock Pro is the better choice. Its waitlist management and email export features provide a direct line to potential customers eager to purchase. However, its lower number of reviews, in 2026, might give some pause.
If the primary goal is to increase conversions by creating a sense of urgency and scarcity, especially for products with limited inventory or promotional items, Hey!Scarcity Low Stock Counter is the preferred option. The higher review count provides greater confidence in its effectiveness. Merchants can, in some cases, use both to capitalize on different stages of the customer journey: scarcity to drive initial purchase, back-in-stock to recapture later interest.
