Essential Sticky Add to Cart vs Essential Upsell & Cross Sellfor Shopify (2026)
Essential Sticky Add to Cart focuses on improving conversion rates by making the 'Add to Cart' and 'Buy Now' buttons persistently visible and accessible to customers as they browse. Its strength lies in enhancing the user experience and driving immediate purchases through a sticky bar, countdown timers, and express checkout options. This app targets merchants who want to streamline the checkout process and encourage impulse buys. On the other hand, Essential Upsell & Cross Sell is designed to increase average order value (AOV) by recommending related or frequently bought together products to customers at various stages of the buying process. It offers features like product bundles, one-click upsells, and automatic discount promotions to encourage customers to add more items to their cart. While both apps fall under the 'Checkout, Cart customization' categories, they serve distinctly different purposes. Essential Sticky Add to Cart focuses on streamlining the path to purchase with persistent, conversion-optimized buttons. Essential Upsell & Cross Sell, however, aims to increase the value of each purchase by strategically offering additional products and incentives. The large difference in review count, with Essential Upsell & Cross Sell having significantly more, suggests a broader user base or a longer time on the market. Choosing between the two depends on the primary goal: driving more sales volume through immediate conversions versus increasing the average value of each sale through strategic product recommendations.

Our Verdict
If the main priority is to simplify the checkout process and immediately convert browsing customers into buyers, Essential Sticky Add to Cart is the better choice. The sticky 'Add to Cart' bar and express checkout options are designed to reduce friction and encourage quick purchases, especially on mobile devices. This is beneficial for stores with a high volume of traffic and a need to capitalize on impulse buying.
However, if the goal is to maximize revenue per transaction by encouraging customers to buy more products, Essential Upsell & Cross Sell is the more suitable option. The ability to recommend related products, offer bundles, and provide post-purchase upsells can significantly increase AOV. Stores with a diverse product catalog and a focus on long-term customer value would benefit most from this app.
