Essential Upsell & Cross Sell vs ETP Sort Hide Payment Methodsfor Shopify (2026)
Essential Upsell & Cross Sell and ETP Sort Hide Payment Methods are both 5-star rated Shopify apps operating in the 'Checkout' and 'Cart Customization' categories. However, they serve fundamentally different purposes. Essential Upsell & Cross Sell is geared towards increasing Average Order Value (AOV) through upselling, cross-selling, and product bundling. It targets merchants seeking to maximize revenue per customer by offering strategic product recommendations at various points in the customer journey, from the product page to the cart drawer and even post-purchase. ETP Sort Hide Payment Methods, conversely, focuses on optimizing the checkout experience by providing granular control over payment method visibility and order. It targets merchants who need to tailor payment options to specific customer segments, geographies, or order characteristics, aiming to reduce checkout friction and improve conversion rates. The core difference lies in their objectives. Essential Upsell & Cross Sell seeks to add more to each order, while ETP Sort Hide Payment Methods seeks to streamline the payment process. The former uses recommendations and discounts to drive sales, while the latter uses rules and conditional logic to optimize payment options. Therefore, the ideal choice depends entirely on the merchant's primary goal: AOV growth versus checkout optimization. While both apps share categories, they solve distinct problems for different types of Shopify stores. Essential Upsell & Cross Sell relies on frequently bought items and product page upsells, whereas ETP Sort Hide Payment Methods employs cart value and shipping rules.
