ESSY Recently Viewed Products vs Recomatic Related Productsfor Shopify (2026)
In 2026, the choice between ESSY Recently Viewed Products and Recomatic Related Products for a Shopify store hinges on the merchant's needs and risk tolerance. ESSY Recently Viewed Products focuses on personalized navigation, allowing customers to easily revisit previously viewed items. It emphasizes ease of use through theme editor customization and boasts mobile optimization and localized currency support. It targets merchants wanting to improve user experience and reduce cart abandonment with minimal coding. Recomatic Related Products, on the other hand, aims to boost sales through intelligent product recommendations based on sales data and product attributes. It also allows customization via the theme editor. Recomatic targets merchants who want AI-driven product recommendations to maximize conversions and who value detailed sales reporting. The primary difference lies in the core functionality. ESSY offers a 'recently viewed' feature, while Recomatic offers 'related products'. This leads to vastly different optimization opportunities, Recomatic helping discoverability of items that the customer is likely to purchase alongside what they are currently viewing. ESSY provides ease of access to products they had previously viewed in their browsing session. A key challenge with ESSY is its complete lack of reviews suggesting it is either new or not well received. A key advantage of Recomatic is that it allows merchants to track the impact of the recommendations, something ESSY doesn't offer.

Our Verdict
Given its zero ratings and reviews, ESSY Recently Viewed Products presents a significant risk for merchants in 2026, even though it focuses on improving user experience and is simple to customize. It's suitable only for very early-stage stores or those willing to take a gamble on a new app and provide feedback. Recomatic Related Products, with its excellent rating and numerous reviews, is the safer and generally more effective choice for merchants prioritizing sales growth through intelligent product recommendations. It offers better value for established stores wanting to optimize conversions and benefit from detailed sales reporting.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and customize?
Both apps claim easy customization through the theme editor. However, ESSY appears to prioritize simplicity with its 'no coding required' promise and focus on visual customization. It is, at least on paper, designed for beginners. However, Recomatic, while also easy to install, offers both theme editor customization and manual fine-tuning, making it slightly more complex but more powerful.
Does either app offer A/B testing?
Neither app explicitly mentions A/B testing in its description or key features. However, the detailed conversion tracking in Recomatic could allow merchants to indirectly assess the impact of the recommendations over time and compare different configurations.
Which app is better for a store with a limited product catalog?
ESSY Recently Viewed Products might be marginally better for a store with a small catalog since related products would be fairly limited. However, the complete lack of any social proof makes this decision questionable. The 'recently viewed' feature still provides value, although the same benefit with related products can be expected.
Can I use both apps simultaneously?
Yes, in theory, you could use both apps. ESSY focuses on recently viewed items, while Recomatic focuses on related products. They address different user needs. That said, without reviews for ESSY, proceeding cautiously is important to avoid slowing down your site or confusing your users.
How do these apps impact page load speed?
Neither app explicitly addresses page load speed. However, apps that inject dynamic content (like product recommendations) can potentially impact loading times. Choosing an app with efficient code and optimized servers is crucial. Given the lack of user reviews for ESSY, it is impossible to ascertain how well optimized that app is for page load speed.
