ETP Sort Hide Payment Methods vs TryOnify: Try Before You Buyfor Shopify (2026)
ETP Sort Hide Payment Methods and TryOnify: Try Before You Buy both aim to enhance the Shopify checkout experience, but address very different pain points. ETP Sort Hide Payment Methods focuses on optimizing the payment options presented to the customer, increasing conversions by reducing friction related to irrelevant or confusing choices. It targets merchants who want fine-grained control over how payment methods are displayed, enabling them to tailor the experience based on location, cart value, or other conditions. This app is centered on established payment gateways like PayPal, Stripe, and COD, allowing for strategic presentation of these pre-existing options. TryOnify: Try Before You Buy introduces a novel payment concept – 'Try Now, Pay Later' – aimed at reducing cart abandonment by offering a free trial period before payment. It specifically targets merchants struggling with customer acquisition and aims to encourage larger and more frequent purchases by removing the immediate financial barrier. TryOnify's value proposition lies in its innovative approach to payment processing itself, deferring charges and leveraging credit card authorizations. It presents an alternative to traditional BNPL models, focusing on a genuine trial experience rather than a lending service.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with optimizing their existing payment gateway setup and increasing conversions through a streamlined checkout process, ETP Sort Hide Payment Methods is the clear choice. Its robust rule-based system allows for precise tailoring of the payment options presented to each customer, improving their overall shopping experience.
If, however, the main goal is aggressive customer acquisition and addressing cart abandonment by removing the immediate financial commitment, TryOnify: Try Before You Buy presents a compelling alternative. The 'Try Now, Pay Later' model can be particularly effective for products or services where a trial period significantly increases the likelihood of purchase and reduces buyer hesitation.
Common Questions
Which app helps me offer a 'Buy Now, Pay Later' option?
TryOnify: Try Before You Buy offers a 'Try Now, Pay Later' alternative which is a form of deferred payment. ETP Sort Hide Payment Methods focuses on *displaying* different payment options, not offering them.
Can I use these apps to create new payment gateways?
No. Neither app creates new *payment gateways*. ETP Sort Hide Payment Methods manages the *display* of existing gateways. TryOnify *defers* payment through credit card authorizations, not offering a completely new gateway.
Which app is better for international sales?
ETP Sort Hide Payment Methods is better suited for international sales because it lets you show or hide payment methods based on customer location. This enables you to comply with regional regulations and optimize for local payment preferences. TryOnify's value is not directly correlated to international use cases.
Which app is easier to set up?
Both apps claim to be easy to set up. ETP Sort Hide Payment Methods emphasizes its 'no-code' conditional rules, suggesting a user-friendly interface. TryOnify explicitly states 'Quick & easy setup'. However, the relatively lower number of reviews for TryOnify makes it difficult to objectively assess which is truly easier.
Does either app offer payment plans?
Neither app directly offers standard payment plans. However, TryOnify's 'Try Now, Pay Later' indirectly allows customers to 'try' before committing to the full purchase, and paying later. ETP Sort Hide Payment Methods does not involve payment plans.
