Our Verdict
If your primary need is to automate VAT handling for EU B2B transactions, particularly involving VIES validation and reverse charging, then EUVAT.app is the clear choice. Its focus on this specific area provides functionalities lacking in Finaloop. However, if you require a comprehensive accounting solution with bookkeeping, inventory management, and expert accounting services, Finaloop is the superior option. Finaloop addresses the broader accounting needs of an ecommerce business. For Shopify Plus stores, the direct checkout VAT validation feature of EUVAT.app may be a decisive factor if B2B EU sales are significant.
Common Questions
Does EUVAT.app handle my entire accounting process?
No, EUVAT.app focuses on automating VAT handling for EU B2B transactions. It doesn't offer full accounting features like P&L statements or balance sheets.
Can Finaloop validate EU VAT numbers?
Finaloop is primarily accounting software. While it might track VAT collected, it does *not* appear to have built-in VAT number validation like EUVAT.app.
Is either app suitable for businesses that only sell B2C?
EUVAT.app is less relevant for purely B2C businesses, as it is designed for reverse charge VAT. Finaloop could still be beneficial for B2C businesses requiring accounting and inventory management.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Without user reviews directly comparing ease of use, it's difficult to say definitively. However, EUVAT.app's focused functionality suggests a potentially simpler setup for VAT-specific tasks, whereas Finaloop, with its full suite of features, may require more initial configuration but offers full-service assistance.
How does the customer service compare?
Finaloop explicitly mentions a team of expert accountants providing full-service support, implying significant customer service. EUVAT.app's description doesn't mention dedicated customer service, making Finaloop potentially superior in this aspect.
