Evereye | Fraud Protection vs Real ID ‑ ID verificationfor Shopify (2026)
Evereye | Fraud Protection and Real ID ‑ ID verification are both highly-rated Shopify apps aimed at reducing fraud and chargebacks, but they approach the problem differently. Evereye positions itself as a comprehensive fraud protection solution, emphasizing a guarantee where they cover chargebacks if their system fails to identify fraud. Their key strength lies in this financial guarantee and promises of quick, same-day support, making it appealing to merchants who want a completely hands-off approach to fraud prevention. Real ID, on the other hand, focuses on ID verification as a means to prevent fraud, offering a more controlled approach by allowing merchants to verify customer identities before or after checkout. Real ID is likely more attractive to merchants needing to comply with age-restricted goods regulations or those who want more granular control over the verification process and customer experience.

Our Verdict
If a merchant prioritizes a completely hands-off solution with a financial guarantee against chargebacks, Evereye | Fraud Protection is the better choice. Its emphasis on speed and simple setup also benefits merchants needing a quick and easy fraud prevention solution. However, if a merchant requires ID verification, especially for age-restricted goods or wants more control over the verification process, Real ID ‑ ID verification is the superior option. The ability to prompt for ID verification at different points in the customer journey and the feature to remember repeat customers provides more flexibility and potentially a better customer experience.
