EZ Checkout Controller | Rules vs Shopify Checkout Blocksfor Shopify (2026)
EZ Checkout Controller | Rules and Shopify Checkout Blocks both target the 'Checkout' category on Shopify, but they cater to distinct merchant needs. EZ Checkout Controller | Rules focuses on providing comprehensive checkout rule customization for *all* Shopify merchants, regardless of their plan. It emphasizes order limits, payment and shipping method control, fraud prevention, and traffic blocking. In contrast, Shopify Checkout Blocks focuses on customizing the order status and thank you pages with content blocks, and extends to full checkout customization features like custom discounts and address validation, *only* for Shopify Plus merchants. This difference in accessibility is crucial for merchants deciding between the two. Shopify Checkout Blocks, due to its focus on the Shopify Plus plan, likely provides deeper integration with the Shopify ecosystem for those premium merchants. EZ Checkout Controller | Rules, despite its limited number of reviews, offers features valuable to all Shopify users seeking control over their checkout process. It is positioned as the more accessible solution for managing checkout rules, including order limits and fraud protection, without requiring a Shopify Plus subscription.

Our Verdict
For standard Shopify merchants looking to implement order limits, control payment and shipping options, and add basic fraud prevention features without upgrading to Shopify Plus, EZ Checkout Controller | Rules is the clear choice. Its feature set is designed for broader accessibility and provides immediate value for controlling the checkout experience.
Shopify Checkout Blocks is specifically designed for Shopify Plus merchants seeking deep customization of the checkout experience. While it offers basic order status and thank you page customization for all users, its full potential, including custom checkout fields, discounts, and advanced shipping/payment control, is locked behind the Shopify Plus subscription. Therefore, if you're already a Shopify Plus user, Shopify Checkout Blocks may be a good solution for further customization.
Common Questions
Which app is better for preventing fraudulent orders?
EZ Checkout Controller | Rules provides automatic fraud protection and includes an IP & country blocker, offering more direct fraud prevention features than Shopify Checkout Blocks.
Can I use both apps at the same time?
Potentially, but it might lead to conflicts, especially with overlapping features like payment/shipping method control. It's generally advisable to choose one based on your specific needs and Shopify plan.
Which app offers a Terms and Conditions checkbox?
EZ Checkout Controller | Rules offers a Terms and Conditions checkbox as a standard feature. Shopify Checkout Blocks does not mention this functionality.
Is Shopify Checkout Blocks useful if I'm not on Shopify Plus?
It provides limited customization options for the Order status and Thank you pages. The more powerful checkout customization, order & shipping discounts, & address validation features are exclusively for Shopify Plus merchants.
Which app is easier to use?
Based on the descriptions, EZ Checkout Controller | Rules seems to prioritize ease of use with its claim of being 'easy to use'. Shopify Checkout Blocks does not specifically discuss ease of use but its broader feature set, especially for Plus users, might require more complex configuration.
