Facebook & Instagram vs Faire: Sell Wholesalefor Shopify (2026)
Facebook & Instagram is Meta's official sales channel app, designed to help Shopify merchants directly engage with consumers on those platforms. It focuses on driving direct-to-consumer (DTC) sales through social commerce, leveraging features like product syncing, ad creation, and conversion pixel setup. Faire: Sell Wholesale, on the other hand, connects Shopify merchants with independent retailers globally, facilitating wholesale transactions through the Faire marketplace. Its primary strength lies in expanding a merchant's reach into the B2B wholesale market, offering exposure to a network of retail buyers. Both apps share the Sales channels category, but they cater to fundamentally different business models and target audiences. The key difference lies in the intended customer. Facebook & Instagram targets consumers for direct sales, providing tools to manage social media marketing and facilitate purchases within the Meta ecosystem. Faire is specifically for businesses looking to expand their wholesale distribution network to independent retailers. While both offer product syncing and order management functionalities, Facebook & Instagram offers ad creation and sales insights on Facebook and Instagram, while Faire provides access to a pre-existing wholesale marketplace with global reach. A significant difference is in the level of control; Facebook & Instagram allows more control over branding and customer experience on social media, while Faire offers less control but leverages the existing trust and traffic of the Faire marketplace.

Our Verdict
The choice between Facebook & Instagram and Faire: Sell Wholesale depends entirely on a merchant's business model and sales strategy. If a merchant's primary goal is to increase direct sales through social media marketing, leverage targeted advertising, and maintain control over branding within the Facebook and Instagram ecosystems, then Facebook & Instagram is the better choice. This app caters to businesses already investing in social media marketing.
Conversely, if a merchant is looking to expand into the wholesale market and reach independent retailers without the upfront marketing investment, then Faire: Sell Wholesale is the more suitable option. This is particularly valuable for brands seeking to diversify their revenue streams and access a pre-vetted network of buyers. While Faire offers less control over the customer experience, it provides a readily available wholesale marketplace.
