Facebook & Instagram vs Store Migrationfor Shopify (2026)
Facebook & Instagram and Store Migration are both Shopify apps that fall under the 'Sales Channels' and 'Selling Online' categories, but they serve entirely different purposes. Facebook & Instagram, the official app from Meta, focuses on expanding a merchant's reach and sales through Facebook and Instagram channels. It provides tools for product syncing, ad creation, shoppable posts, and order management within the Meta ecosystem. Its primary strength lies in its integration with Meta's platforms, offering a potentially large audience and seamless shopping experience. Store Migration, on the other hand, is designed to facilitate the transition of a merchant's data from other e-commerce platforms to Shopify. It simplifies the process of importing product and customer data, catering specifically to merchants who are new to Shopify or migrating from a different platform like Square, WooCommerce, or Etsy.

Our Verdict
Choosing between Facebook & Instagram and Store Migration depends entirely on the merchant's needs. Facebook & Instagram is ideal for existing Shopify merchants looking to leverage Facebook and Instagram as sales channels, providing tools for marketing, product syncing, and order management within the Meta ecosystem. Store Migration is indispensable for merchants moving to Shopify from other platforms, offering features to import existing product and customer data, either through CSV uploads or direct account connections. Given the substantial difference in review count and rating, and the completely distinct functionalities, they aren't really direct competitors. A merchant needs either one or the other based on their specific circumstances.
Common Questions
Is Facebook & Instagram useful if I don't use Facebook or Instagram?
No, the primary function of this app is to leverage Facebook and Instagram as sales channels. Without a presence on these platforms, the app provides little value.
Can Store Migration transfer all my data perfectly to Shopify?
The app description notes that some platforms may not export all data or use compatible formats, so small edits in Shopify may be required after the migration process.
Which app is easier to set up?
Facebook & Instagram boasts a 'one-time account connection,' suggesting a potentially simpler setup process compared to Store Migration, which may require CSV uploads or platform-specific connections, and potentially manual adjustments afterward.
Can Facebook & Instagram help me manage my Shopify store directly?
While Facebook & Instagram facilitates selling through Meta's platforms and manages orders from those channels, it does not replace Shopify's core store management features.
Does Store Migration offer support during the migration process?
The description states that the data transfers are 'powered by Shopify' and are 'quick and secure,' but there is no mention of specific support available during or after the migration process. More support information is needed.
