Fanboard ‑ Customer Videos vs OneReview: Use Online Reviewsfor Shopify (2026)
Fanboard ‑ Customer Videos and OneReview: Use Online Reviews address social trust, but approach it from different angles. Fanboard focuses on user-generated content by incentivizing customers to create videos. It aims to provide fresh content for marketing efforts across various channels. In contrast, OneReview leverages existing reviews from external sources to boost product page credibility, mitigating the impact of missing reviews on a merchant's website. The key difference lies in content source. Fanboard empowers businesses to create their own original content with customer collaboration. OneReview utilizes existing online review data to improve product pages. Fanboard's target audience includes merchants seeking engaging video content and user-generated marketing assets. OneReview is for merchants trying to rapidly populate product pages with credible reviews, especially in the early stages of selling a new product, by integrating external review data.

Our Verdict
OneReview is the better option for merchants who urgently need reviews to boost sales, particularly for new products or products with limited online presence. It offers a quick and easy way to add social proof to product pages by aggregating reviews from other platforms. Fanboard is suited for merchants who want original video content and are willing to invest time in creating engaging prompts and reviewing submissions.
The lack of reviews for Fanboard makes it a riskier choice, whereas OneReview has a perfect rating (though based on a small sample). Ultimately, the choice depends on the merchant's content needs and strategic focus. If content creation through videos aligns well with the merchant's brand and content creation strategy, then Fanboard might be the better choice. If the merchant simply needs reviews right away, OneReview is the easier and safer bet.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
OneReview claims a 5-minute setup, which suggests it's designed for immediate implementation. While Fanboard mentions setting up a page in minutes, the entire process including creating prompts, reviewing submissions and generating discount codes might be longer.
Which app is better for generating fresh content?
Fanboard is explicitly designed to collect fresh, user-generated video content. OneReview focuses on aggregating pre-existing review content from other websites.
Which app offers more control over the content displayed?
Fanboard gives you more granular control over the content shown. You can accept or decline submissions. OneReview likely provides control over widget design and the sources it pulls reviews from but not necessarily individual review selection.
If my products already have reviews on Amazon, which app should I choose?
OneReview is the obvious choice, as it can pull those existing reviews from Amazon and display them on your product pages. Fanboard would still require customers to create new video content.
Are these apps mutually exclusive or can they be used together?
They can be used together. OneReview explicitly states it can be paired with other review apps. One could use OneReview to provide initial review coverage, and then use Fanboard to create engaging video testimonials to further build trust. However, this comes at the expense of managing two apps, and the value of stacking is limited.
