Fanboard ‑ Customer Videos vs TrustKit: Trust Badges & Iconsfor Shopify (2026)
Fanboard ‑ Customer Videos and TrustKit: Trust Badges & Icons both aim to improve social trust on Shopify stores, but address fundamentally different aspects. Fanboard focuses on user-generated content (UGC) in the form of video testimonials, offering a way to collect and leverage customer videos for marketing purposes in exchange for discount codes. Its core strength lies in automating the video collection process and repurposing customer testimonials for ads, emails, social media and website content. TrustKit, on the other hand, centers on building trust through visual cues like trust badges and payment icons. It caters to merchants seeking to reduce cart abandonment by visually assuring customers of secure transactions and reliable service. The key difference lies in their approach. Fanboard actively seeks customer involvement to create content, while TrustKit passively instills trust through pre-designed badges. Fanboard targets merchants looking to invest in UGC as a marketing strategy, while TrustKit caters to those needing a quick and simple solution to address checkout concerns. The apps overlap in their intended outcome of increasing trust and conversions but address different stages of the customer journey and employ distinct methods.

Our Verdict
TrustKit, despite having only one review, seems the more immediately useful and straightforward app for merchants primarily concerned with reducing checkout abandonment by displaying security and guarantee badges. It offers an easily implemented solution for building confidence. However, a larger review base for TrustKit would be beneficial.
Fanboard, while potentially powerful, is better suited for merchants who are actively looking to invest in user-generated content and have the resources to manage and moderate video submissions. It requires customer participation and a compelling incentive (discount codes) to be successful. If building a library of customer testimonials is a key marketing goal, Fanboard offers a viable route, although the absence of reviews raises concerns about its current functionality and support.
