Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with improving their search engine rankings and page speed, FavSEO ‑ SEO & Page Speed is the more appropriate choice. Its tools are specifically designed to address on-page SEO factors and identify optimization opportunities. However, for merchants deeply concerned about data privacy, regulatory compliance (like GDPR), and maintaining full control over their analytics data, Matomo Analytics offers a robust alternative to standard analytics platforms. The 0/5 rating and zero reviews for Matomo Analytics suggest it may be new, or may require external Matomo configuration limiting it's native Shopify user reviews, and merchants should investigate setup requirements closely before adopting.
Common Questions
Does FavSEO ‑ SEO & Page Speed guarantee higher search rankings?
FavSEO provides tools to improve your store's SEO, which can contribute to higher rankings, but no app can guarantee specific search result positions as Google's algorithm is complex and ever-changing.
Is Matomo Analytics difficult to set up?
The app description claims a setup time of less than 2 minutes with zero theme edits. However, it requires a Matomo Cloud or On-Premise account, which might add to the overall setup process depending on your chosen Matomo setup.
Can FavSEO ‑ SEO & Page Speed help with mobile page speed optimization?
The app description mentions checking your store's page speed and finding ways to optimize it. While not explicitly stated, this likely includes mobile page speed as it's a crucial factor for SEO and user experience.
How does Matomo Analytics ensure GDPR compliance?
Matomo Analytics offers features like consent mode and cookieless fallback to ensure compliance with GDPR and other privacy regulations. These features help manage user consent for data collection and provide alternative tracking methods when consent is not granted.
Which app is better for a beginner Shopify store owner?
FavSEO, with its all-in-one SEO tools, is likely the better choice for a beginner. The focus on simple SEO elements and less technical setup will make SEO feel more achievable for beginners as opposed to the advanced configuration and technical analytics focus of Matomo.
