Festjoy - Festival Decoration and Gather: Refer a Friend are both Shopify apps listed under the 'Promotions - Other' category, but they address fundamentally different aspects of online retail. Our Verdict
Given the available information, Gather: Refer a Friend appears to be the more robust and reliable option for most merchants in 2026. The 5/5 rating with 14 reviews suggests user satisfaction, and its features cater to a clear business goal: customer acquisition. Merchants looking to drive sales through word-of-mouth marketing will find Gather a valuable tool. Festjoy ‑ Festival Decoration, while potentially useful for enhancing the visual appeal of a store during holidays, lacks social proof and may not provide as tangible a return on investment.
However, Festjoy could be a worthwhile option for merchants who prioritize visual branding and want a simple, quick way to add festive touches to their store without a significant time investment. If budget is constrained and visuals are paramount, Festjoy might be a viable choice, but the lack of reviews should be carefully considered before committing.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Without user reviews for Festjoy, it's hard to say definitively. However, both apps advertise ease of use. Gather claims a 'one-click embed', and Festjoy implies simple implementation of visual effects, suggesting both should be relatively straightforward.
Which app is better for increasing sales?
Gather: Refer a Friend is specifically designed for increasing sales through referrals, making it the better choice for this objective. Festjoy's impact on sales is less direct and depends on whether seasonal themes translate into higher conversion rates.
Which app requires more ongoing management?
Gather requires more ongoing management as it involves setting up and monitoring referral programs, designing email templates, and managing rewards. Festjoy, once set up, may require less active management unless the merchant frequently changes seasonal themes.
Is Festjoy a riskier choice due to the lack of reviews?
Yes, the lack of reviews for Festjoy increases the risk. Merchants have no way of knowing if the app functions as advertised or if there are any hidden issues. Gather's positive reviews provide some assurance of its reliability.
Can both apps be used together?
Yes, theoretically both apps could be used together. A merchant could use Festjoy to create a festive atmosphere and Gather to incentivize customers to refer friends, potentially amplifying the impact of both strategies. However, it's important to consider if the added complexity and cost are justified.
