Filey ‑ Files Backup & Export vs MP ‑ Store Migration & Importfor Shopify (2026)
Filey - Files Backup & Export and MP - Store Migration & Import are both Shopify apps positioned within the 'Selling online' and 'Store data importer' categories, but they cater to slightly different aspects of store management. Filey focuses primarily on the backup, export, and import of files stored in the Shopify Content -> Files section, including product images, videos, and 3D models. Its key strength lies in simplifying the transfer of these files between stores, particularly useful for merchants migrating to new themes or creating duplicate stores. MP - Store Migration & Import, while sharing the import category, likely provides a more comprehensive store migration solution. While its specific features are not provided (beyond being a data importer), the title suggests a broader scope than Filey. This positions it towards merchants seeking to migrate entire stores from other platforms or duplicate stores to Shopify, implying capabilities beyond just file transfers. Ultimately, the choice between the two hinges on the merchant's specific needs. Filey is for those primarily concerned with file management and transfer within or between Shopify stores. MP seems to cater to a broader audience needing more comprehensive migration capabilities from potentially different platforms.

Our Verdict
For merchants specifically needing to back up, export, and import files (images, videos, 3D models) within the Shopify ecosystem, especially when migrating to a new theme or creating duplicate stores, Filey - Files Backup & Export is the more suitable choice due to its focused functionality and ease of use. Its 'one-click' export feature is a significant time-saver.
However, if a merchant is migrating an entire store from another platform (e.g., Magento, WooCommerce) to Shopify, or requires a more comprehensive data migration solution beyond just file transfer, MP - Store Migration & Import is likely the better option. The lack of detail about MP makes this assumption necessary, but its title strongly suggests a wider scope of capabilities.
