First Wish ‑ Wishlist & Boards vs Wishlist by Squarefor Shopify (2026)
First Wish ‑ Wishlist & Boards and Wishlist by Square both aim to boost sales by allowing customers to save favorite products. However, their feature sets and user reviews suggest very different target audiences and levels of maturity. First Wish focuses on sharing wishlists with others via social media, email, or messaging apps and provides usage metrics in an admin dashboard. Wishlist by Square emphasizes ease of use, automatic tracking of wishlist items without requiring accounts, and offers customization options to match a store's brand. Wishlist by Square also concentrates on providing insights into customer buying intent through wishlist data. The significant difference in user ratings and review counts between the two apps speaks volumes. Wishlist by Square, with a 5/5 rating based on 11 reviews, indicates a positive user experience. In contrast, First Wish, with a 1/5 rating based on a single review, suggests potential issues or dissatisfaction. First Wish offers features for creating curated lists and sharing them, which distinguishes it from Wishlist by Square's primary focus on simply saving items for later. This difference in feature focus dictates which merchants each app would be best for.

Our Verdict
Based on current ratings and reviews, Wishlist by Square seems to be the more reliable choice for merchants seeking a straightforward and easy-to-use wishlist app. The 'works out of the box' functionality and lack of required customer accounts make it suitable for businesses prioritizing simplicity and minimizing friction. Its analytics focus on purchase intent also makes it attractive to merchants focused on conversion optimization.
First Wish ‑ Wishlist & Boards, while offering potentially valuable features like curated lists and sharing, suffers from a very low rating and limited user feedback. It might suit merchants who are particularly focused on social engagement and wish to offer a curated list-building experience if future updates improve the user experience and address reported issues.
