Fish Wishlist vs Hobuy: Instant Auctions Hubfor Shopify (2026)
Fish Wishlist and Hobuy: Instant Auctions Hub cater to vastly different needs within the Shopify ecosystem. Fish Wishlist focuses on enhancing the customer experience through wishlists, offering features like B2B pricing, POS integration, and social sharing, making it a comprehensive solution for merchants looking to improve customer engagement and streamline operations. Its high rating (5/5) and positive reviews (7) suggest existing users are satisfied with its functionality and ease of use. The availability of White Glove Installation further supports its claim of ease of use. Hobuy, on the other hand, aims to disrupt the traditional discounting model by introducing instant, in-cart auctions. Hobuy targets merchants seeking a dynamic alternative to fixed discounts, promising higher margins and a more engaging customer experience. It emphasizes speed and simplicity, claiming to offer auctions in minutes without requiring customer registration or extensive merchant admin. However, the app's lack of ratings and reviews raises concerns about its usability and reliability. While both apps touch upon pricing strategies through 'pricing quotes' due to Fish Wishlist's B2B quote feature, their core functionalities and target audiences are distinct.

Our Verdict
Fish Wishlist is the safer choice for most merchants in 2026. Its positive reviews and robust feature set, including POS and B2B integrations, make it a versatile solution for enhancing customer experience and streamlining operations. Hobuy: Instant Auctions Hub presents a potentially innovative approach to pricing, but its lack of user feedback makes it a riskier proposition.
Merchants dissatisfied with traditional discounting methods and willing to experiment with a newer app might consider Hobuy, but should proceed with caution and carefully monitor its performance. Those prioritizing established functionality, proven customer satisfaction, and features like wishlists, POS integration, and B2B capabilities will likely find Fish Wishlist to be the superior choice.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Both apps claim easy setup. Fish Wishlist advertises a '2 Minute Setup' and offers White Glove Installation, suggesting a supportive onboarding process. Hobuy claims a 'one-time, one-step setup'. However, without user reviews for Hobuy, it's difficult to definitively say which is easier.
Which app is better for B2B businesses?
Fish Wishlist is explicitly designed with B2B features like 'Request a Quote', 'B2B Pricing', and 'Draft Order Integration'. Hobuy lacks any specific B2B functionality.
Which app is more risky to install?
Hobuy: Instant Auctions Hub is more risky due to the lack of reviews. While it might be innovative, there is no indication that it is reliable or easy to use.
How do these apps use pricing quotes?
Fish Wishlist uses pricing quotes to enable B2B sales. Hobuy does not directly offer price quotes. Instead it finds the current market value for an item through an auction process. It is a method for setting prices based on current market value instead of a fixed price.
Which app will impact customer loyalty more?
Fish Wishlist's wishlist functionality, coupled with social sharing and a seamless checkout experience, can contribute to customer loyalty. Hobuy's auction-based approach aims to create a more engaging customer experience, which could potentially increase loyalty, but this is unproven.
