Flow Companion vs Synctrack PayPal Tracking Syncfor Shopify (2026)
Flow Companion and Synctrack PayPal Tracking Sync are both workflow automation apps on the Shopify App Store, but they cater to vastly different needs. Flow Companion aims to enhance the capabilities of Shopify Flow by providing custom triggers and actions, extending its functionality for more complex and personalized workflows. It's positioned as a low-code/no-code solution for merchants looking to automate tasks related to customer, product, and order data, as well as integrate external services and AI. On the other hand, Synctrack PayPal Tracking Sync focuses specifically on streamlining the process of syncing tracking information with PayPal and Stripe. Its primary goal is to help merchants get their funds faster, reduce disputes, and build trust with PayPal, acting as a dedicated solution for payment-related workflow optimization. The key difference lies in the scope of automation. Flow Companion offers a broader, more generalized approach, empowering merchants to create custom workflows using a variety of triggers and actions. It requires a deeper understanding of workflow logic and potentially some technical knowledge. Synctrack, conversely, provides a very specific, targeted solution for a common pain point: payment hold times and disputes due to lack of tracking information. It emphasizes ease of use and immediate impact on payment processing. The number of reviews provides a significant indication of the popularity and established market presence of Synctrack compared to the relatively new Flow Companion.

Our Verdict
For merchants already heavily invested in Shopify Flow and seeking to build complex, customized workflows involving various data points, external services, and AI-powered text generation, Flow Companion offers compelling extended capabilities. However, given the low number of reviews, it's a newer app, so caution is advised. For merchants primarily concerned with optimizing their PayPal and Stripe payment processes by automatically syncing tracking information to get funds faster and reduce disputes, Synctrack PayPal Tracking Sync is the clear choice. Its high review count and specific focus make it a reliable solution for this particular problem.
Ultimately, the best choice depends entirely on the merchant's specific needs. If generalized workflow automation and integration are the goals, explore Flow Companion. If payment optimization with PayPal and Stripe is the priority, Synctrack is the stronger option. Merchants using multiple sales channels like Facebook and Instagram in addition to their Shopify store will also benefit greatly from Synctrack's ability to sync tracking data from those channels to PayPal.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Synctrack PayPal Tracking Sync is likely much easier to set up and use, as it focuses on a specific function with minimal configuration required. Flow Companion's ease of use depends on the complexity of the workflows being built, potentially requiring more technical knowledge and setup time.
If I'm new to workflow automation, which app should I choose?
Synctrack PayPal Tracking Sync is a better starting point for beginners, as it addresses a concrete problem with a straightforward solution. Flow Companion is more suited for users already familiar with workflow automation concepts and Shopify Flow.
Can Flow Companion perform the same function as Synctrack?
Potentially, yes, with significant effort. Flow Companion *could* be configured to sync tracking information with PayPal and Stripe via HTTP requests, but it would require building the workflow from scratch, understanding the respective APIs, and handling error conditions. Synctrack provides a pre-built, optimized solution for this specific task.
Which app is more scalable?
Flow Companion likely offers greater scalability in terms of the types of workflows and integrations it can handle, given its broader capabilities. Synctrack is scalable within its specific domain of payment tracking sync.
Does Synctrack work with all shipping carriers?
The description mentions 'mapping with PayPal-supported couriers,' indicating Synctrack may have limitations and only support certain carriers. You should confirm with Synctrack support that the relevant shipping carriers are supported. Flow Companion, if manually configured, *could* work with any carrier with an available API.
