FOMO Sales Pop Up Social Proof vs ReelUp‑Shoppable Videos+ Reelsfor Shopify (2026)
FOMO Sales Pop Up Social Proof and ReelUp‑Shoppable Videos+ Reels both aim to boost conversions on Shopify stores, but they employ drastically different strategies. FOMO Sales Pop Up leverages the power of social proof and scarcity to create a sense of urgency, encouraging immediate purchases. It utilizes notifications like visitor counters, sales pop-ups, and low stock alerts. ReelUp, on the other hand, focuses on leveraging video content, specifically short-form videos from platforms like TikTok and Instagram, to engage customers and drive sales through shoppable video experiences. The core difference lies in their approaches. FOMO Sales Pop Up is about creating a sense of urgency and trust through real-time notifications, targeting customers already on the site. ReelUp aims to capture attention and showcase products dynamically through engaging video content, acting as a visual sales tool and improving SEO. While both are categorized under "Social Proof" on Shopify, ReelUp emphasizes a more modern, video-centric interpretation of social proof by leveraging user-generated content (UGC) from social media. Therefore, their feature sets and target merchant demographics differ greatly, and they shouldn't be considered interchangeable solutions.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking to instantly increase conversions by leveraging urgency and social proof through real-time notifications, FOMO Sales Pop Up Social Proof is likely the better choice. It's ideal for stores that already have a steady stream of traffic and want to nudge visitors towards making a purchase with features like sales pop-ups and low stock alerts.
However, if the primary goal is to engage customers with dynamic video content and harness the power of TikTok and Instagram for product discovery, ReelUp-Shoppable Videos+ Reels is the more suitable option. It's particularly beneficial for merchants who already have a strong presence on those platforms or want to capitalize on the growing trend of shoppable videos. It appeals to a visually-driven audience and aims to improve both user engagement and SEO through video content.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
While both strive for ease of use, FOMO Sales Pop Up Social Proof might have a slightly quicker setup due to its focus on simple notifications. ReelUp, involving video imports and widget customization, could require a steeper learning curve for some users, although it's still designed to be user-friendly.
Can both apps be used together?
Yes, theoretically. A merchant could use ReelUp to attract and engage users with videos and then use FOMO Sales Pop Up Social Proof to create a sense of urgency once the user is browsing the product page. However, care should be taken to avoid overwhelming the user with too many notifications and visual elements.
Which app is better for a new Shopify store?
For a brand new store with little existing social proof, ReelUp might be a more valuable investment initially. Building brand awareness and showcasing products through engaging videos can be more impactful than showing empty visitor counters or nonexistent sales notifications. Once a store has some traction, FOMO Sales Pop Up can be added to further boost conversions.
Does either app offer A/B testing?
Based on the provided descriptions, neither app explicitly mentions A/B testing features. Additional research or direct inquiry with the app developers would be needed to confirm if such functionality exists.
Which app is likely to require more maintenance?
ReelUp likely requires more ongoing maintenance, as video content needs to be regularly updated and monitored for performance. FOMO Sales Pop Up, while requiring some initial configuration, might need less continuous attention after being set up.
