Our Verdict
For general e-commerce stores looking to combat common types of fraudulent orders and reduce chargebacks, Fraud Falcon ‑ Block & Prevent is the better option. Its customizability and proactive approach allow merchants to tailor fraud prevention to their specific needs. The setup wizard helps users get started quickly.
However, merchants selling age-restricted goods should choose OneGuard Age / ID Verification. This app specifically addresses the unique challenge of verifying customer age and identity to comply with legal requirements. While the review count is lower, its specialized functionality is essential for its target audience.
Common Questions
Which app is better for preventing chargebacks?
Fraud Falcon ‑ Block & Prevent is designed to directly prevent chargebacks by blocking or flagging suspicious orders before they are fulfilled. OneGuard Age / ID Verification might indirectly reduce chargebacks by preventing sales to underage individuals, but that is not its primary focus.
Does OneGuard Age / ID Verification offer proactive fraud prevention like Fraud Falcon?
No, OneGuard Age / ID Verification verifies identity *after* the order is placed. It doesn't use pre-order signals to assess risk and block orders preemptively as Fraud Falcon does.
Which app is easier to set up?
Fraud Falcon appears easier to set up initially thanks to its setup wizard which analyzes the store and suggests rules. OneGuard requires more configuration as it needs to handle document verification processes.
Which app handles customer data more securely?
Both apps emphasize security, but OneGuard Age / ID Verification specifically highlights secure, encrypted data handling for compliance purposes, likely due to the sensitive nature of identity documents. Fraud Falcon does not mention encryption.
Which app is more suitable for international sales?
OneGuard Age / ID Verification explicitly supports documents from over 200 countries, making it the more suitable option for merchants with a global customer base who need to verify age or identity internationally. Fraud Falcon's geographical checks are limited to IP address blocking.
