Fraud Falcon ‑ Block & Prevent vs OTP ‑ CoD Order Verificationfor Shopify (2026)
Fraud Falcon ‑ Block & Prevent and OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification, while both falling under the Shopify category of 'Fraud', address fundamentally different aspects of fraud prevention. Fraud Falcon focuses on proactively blocking potentially fraudulent orders based on a merchant-defined ruleset using factors like risk score, email type, and IP address. Its strength lies in its customizable rules engine and automation of order cancellation and refunds. It aims to prevent chargebacks and protect revenue by filtering suspicious orders *before* they are fulfilled. OTP - CoD Order Verification, on the other hand, targets the specific problem of fake or unwanted Cash on Delivery (CoD) orders, prevalent in certain regions. It achieves this by requiring customers to verify their CoD orders through a one-time password (OTP) sent via WhatsApp, SMS, or email. Its primary strength is in reducing Return-to-Origin (RTO) rates and preventing financial losses associated with unfulfilled CoD orders. Its use cases are specialized geographically and in stores where CoD is a payment option. This app also provides order status updates to customers improving the overall customer experience.

Our Verdict
The choice between Fraud Falcon and OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification depends entirely on the specific needs of the Shopify merchant. If a merchant experiences a high volume of fraudulent orders and chargebacks from various sources (e.g., stolen credit cards, bot attacks), Fraud Falcon is the more suitable option with its customizable rule-based blocking system. It offers comprehensive fraud protection for a wider range of scenarios.
However, if the primary concern is managing fake or unwanted CoD orders, particularly in regions where CoD is a common payment method, OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification is the superior choice. It addresses a very specific type of fraud and its features are highly tailored to that problem. While Fraud Falcon may offer some generic fraud protection, it does not address the CoD issue specifically, so OTP CoD Order Verification is clearly the right option for these stores.
