Fraud Judge Fraud Prevention vs Riskifiedfor Shopify (2026)
Fraud Judge Fraud Prevention and Riskified both aim to protect Shopify merchants from fraudulent activities, but they approach the problem with different strategies and cater to different segments. Fraud Judge focuses on preventive measures by empowering merchants to set custom rules, request ID and address verification, and maintain black/whitelists. It provides tools to actively filter and block suspicious orders, giving merchants more direct control. Riskified, on the other hand, employs an AI-driven platform to provide real-time fraud decisions and guarantees chargeback protection. Their focus is on automating the process and allowing merchants to scale their business without being bogged down in manual fraud prevention efforts. The core difference lies in the level of control and the type of protection offered. Fraud Judge emphasizes customization and prevention, requiring more merchant involvement in setting up and managing rules. Riskified prioritizes automation and offers full chargeback protection, providing peace of mind but potentially sacrificing some granular control over the process. Riskified also offers features like refund and return abuse prevention, and streamlined chargeback management, further solidifying its comprehensive nature. Therefore, the choice between the two depends on the merchant's preference for control versus automation, and the importance of guaranteed chargeback protection.

Our Verdict
For merchants who prefer a hands-on approach and want to customize fraud prevention rules to their specific needs, Fraud Judge Fraud Prevention might be a better fit. They likely value the control and flexibility offered by custom rules and direct verification requests. This might be smaller businesses or those with specific high-risk products.
However, Riskified is the stronger choice for merchants who prioritize automation and want guaranteed chargeback protection. Their AI-powered platform removes the burden of manually managing fraud rules, allowing merchants to focus on scaling their business. It's particularly well-suited for larger businesses or those experiencing significant chargeback losses and wanting a comprehensive, hands-off solution.
