Fraud Shield vs Subunofor Shopify (2026)
Fraud Shield and Subuno are both Shopify apps designed to combat credit card fraud, but they cater to different merchants based on their current state and needs. Fraud Shield positions itself as a highly customizable solution, emphasizing its 'Omniscore System' and the ability for merchants to create their own fraud rules. This suggests it's targeted towards merchants with existing fraud knowledge or those willing to invest time in learning and configuring complex rules. Subuno, on the other hand, emphasizes automation and ease of use, with features like automated fraud checks and built-in data analytics to reduce manual review time. The most significant difference lies in social proof. Subuno has a perfect 5/5 rating based on 4 reviews, while Fraud Shield has no reviews and a rating of 0/5, raising concerns about its reliability or user satisfaction. Subuno also highlights integrated third-party tools and pre-built checks, appealing to merchants looking for immediate value and minimal setup. While Fraud Shield focuses on customizable rules and geolocation technology, its lack of validation from other users makes it a riskier choice compared to the established and positively reviewed Subuno.

Our Verdict
Subuno appears to be the stronger choice for most Shopify merchants in 2026, especially those prioritizing ease of use, quick setup, and proven results. Its positive reviews and focus on automation make it a more reliable option. It's ideal for smaller to medium-sized businesses that want to reduce manual fraud review without deep technical expertise.
Fraud Shield might appeal to larger enterprises or merchants with very specific and complex fraud scenarios, and who have dedicated fraud teams willing to invest time in configuring custom rules. However, its lack of reviews and unproven track record make it a riskier proposition. Without evidence of successful implementations, it's difficult to recommend over the established Subuno. Merchants considering Fraud Shield should proceed with extreme caution and thoroughly test its capabilities before committing.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Subuno emphasizes user-friendliness with its 'no coding' approach and automated features, making it likely easier to set up and use than Fraud Shield, which focuses on customizable rules that may require more technical knowledge.
Which app offers more advanced fraud detection capabilities?
While both claim advanced fraud detection, Subuno integrates third-party tools and offers built-in data analytics, suggesting a more comprehensive and readily available advanced feature set. Fraud Shield highlights statistical fraud scoring and customizable rules, but doesn't mention specific integrations.
Which app is more likely to reduce manual fraud review time?
Subuno explicitly states that it reduces manual review time with automated fraud checks and data analytics, making it the more likely choice for merchants seeking to minimize manual intervention.
Which app is a safer choice given the review data?
Subuno, with its 5/5 rating and 4 reviews, is the safer choice due to the positive social proof. Fraud Shield's lack of reviews and 0/5 rating introduce significant risk, as there's no evidence of its effectiveness or user satisfaction.
For a business expanding internationally, which app offers better geo-location features?
Fraud Shield specifically mentions Geo-location Technology to prevent transactions from high-risk countries. While Subuno might implicitly offer similar features through its integrations, Fraud Shield is the clearer choice if this capability is paramount.
