Fraudify: Fraud Control vs OTP ‑ CoD Order Verificationfor Shopify (2026)
Fraudify: Fraud Control and OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification, while both categorized under 'Fraud' in the Shopify app store, address fundamentally different types of fraudulent activities and cater to distinct merchant needs. Fraudify focuses on preventing fraudulent orders *before* they are fulfilled by alerting merchants to orders flagged by Shopify's fraud analysis. It aims to prevent losses due to credit card fraud, using data points like AVS, CVV, and IP address analysis. Its strength lies in real-time notifications and customizable alerts. It serves merchants who want to actively monitor and manage potentially fraudulent transactions based on Shopify's fraud risk assessment. OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification, on the other hand, directly combats fraudulent Cash on Delivery (CoD) orders, a significant issue in markets where CoD is prevalent. It achieves this by verifying order intent through OTP (One-Time Password) sent via WhatsApp, SMS, or email. It targets merchants struggling with high rates of Return to Origin (RTO) due to fake or unwanted CoD orders. The app's strength is in its direct order validation process and multi-channel support (WhatsApp, SMS, Email), particularly in regions like India, Pakistan, and the Philippines. The app also offers valuable order status updates to customers. Fraudify relies on Shopify's internal fraud analysis, while OTP-COD order Verification focuses on authenticating customer intent to reduce CoD fraud.

Our Verdict
Fraudify: Fraud Control is best suited for merchants primarily concerned with credit card fraud who want to proactively monitor potentially fraudulent orders based on Shopify's fraud risk assessment. It is useful if a merchant has a lot of orders and wants to be alerted to the highest risk ones. However, the lack of reviews is a significant concern. OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification, on the other hand, is the superior choice for merchants operating in regions where Cash on Delivery is popular and fake or unwanted CoD orders are a major problem. The customer support from automated updates alone provides value beyond fraud reduction.
If credit card fraud is the primary concern and Shopify's built-in fraud analysis is deemed sufficient, Fraudify could be considered, but cautiously due to the lack of reviews. For CoD-related fraud, OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification is the clear winner. It should be noted that the two apps are not mutually exclusive, as an informed merchant may choose to use both in tandem if they face both problems, since they solve different fraud issues.
Common Questions
What type of fraud does Fraudify: Fraud Control prevent?
Fraudify: Fraud Control primarily helps prevent credit card fraud by alerting merchants to orders flagged by Shopify's fraud risk analysis system, which takes into account factors such as AVS, CVV, and IP addresses.
Is OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification only for WhatsApp verification?
No, OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification supports OTP verification via WhatsApp, SMS, and Email, offering merchants flexibility based on their customer preferences and regional availability.
Do both apps stop the order being placed?
No, neither app stops the order being placed. Fraudify alerts merchants after the order is placed so they can decide whether to fulfill it. OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification uses OTP to verify the order before fulfillment, but the order is still placed initially.
What happens if a customer doesn't complete the OTP verification with OTP-COD order Verification?
If a customer fails to complete the OTP verification process, the order is typically automatically cancelled (depending on the app's configuration settings), preventing the merchant from shipping an unwanted or fraudulent CoD order. The exact action depends on the store's setup in the app.
Does Fraudify: Fraud Control integrate with other fraud prevention services?
Based on the provided description, Fraudify: Fraud Control relies on Shopify's built-in fraud risk assessment system and does not explicitly mention integration with external fraud prevention services.
