FraudLabs Pro Fraud Prevention vs OTP ‑ CoD Order Verificationfor Shopify (2026)
FraudLabs Pro Fraud Prevention and OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification, while both listed under the 'Fraud' category on Shopify, address fundamentally different types of fraud and cater to distinct merchant needs. FraudLabs Pro aims to prevent payment fraud by analyzing various data points associated with an order and automating decision-making, appealing to merchants worried about fraudulent credit card transactions and chargebacks. Its value proposition lies in its real-time analysis powered by AI and customizable rules. OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification, on the other hand, tackles the issue of fake or unsubstantiated Cash on Delivery (CoD) orders. It verifies orders through OTP (One-Time Password) sent via WhatsApp, SMS, or Email, reducing 'Return To Origin' (RTO) and associated losses. Its core benefit is preventing loss due to undeliverable CoD orders, which is especially relevant for merchants in regions where CoD is a prevalent payment method. The added feature of automated order status updates via WhatsApp/SMS contributes to improved customer experience and reduces uncertainty about order status.

Our Verdict
Choosing between FraudLabs Pro Fraud Prevention and OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification depends entirely on the type of fraud a merchant is facing. If the primary concern is fraudulent credit card transactions and subsequent chargebacks, FraudLabs Pro is the more suitable option, despite its lower rating. However, merchants in regions where Cash on Delivery is common and experiencing high RTO rates due to fake or unconfirmed orders will find OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification to be significantly more effective.
While the OTP app has a perfect rating, the relatively low number of reviews (4) means you should research deeper to understand the experiences of other users. Also, consider that the OTP app might not be suitable for a business that doesn't use Cash on Delivery. For businesses primarily using credit cards, FraudLabs Pro is the only choice in this comparison despite the lower rating, provided you can dedicate the time to configure the rules properly.
Common Questions
What is the key difference in how these apps prevent fraud?
FraudLabs Pro uses automated analysis of order data to identify potentially fraudulent transactions *before* they are completed. OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification confirms the order's legitimacy *after* it's placed but *before* it's shipped, reducing RTO from unconfirmed CoD purchases.
Which app is better for preventing credit card fraud?
FraudLabs Pro Fraud Prevention is designed specifically to detect and prevent fraudulent credit card transactions. OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification is irrelevant in this scenario.
If I offer only credit card payments, which app should I choose?
You should choose FraudLabs Pro Fraud Prevention. OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification is only useful for merchants who accept Cash on Delivery payments.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on the descriptions, OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification seems simpler to set up due to its built-in Shopify OTP verification. FraudLabs Pro requires configuring custom rules, potentially demanding more time and effort.
Which app is better for a merchant in India who primarily uses Cash on Delivery?
OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification is likely the better choice. It specifically addresses the problem of fake or unconfirmed CoD orders, which is a common issue in regions like India. Furthermore, it has explicit support for WhatsApp verification in India.
