Free Gift Contest Popup vs Giveaway Gatorfor Shopify (2026)
Free Gift Contest Popup and Giveaway Gator both aim to help Shopify merchants leverage giveaways and contests, but they target different needs. Free Gift Contest Popup focuses on simple email list growth by offering entry into a product giveaway in exchange for an email address. Its strength lies in its ease of use for quickly launching basic contests and automatically selecting winners. Its target audience appears to be merchants primarily interested in building their email list and running straightforward product giveaways to attract new customers. Giveaway Gator, on the other hand, presents a more comprehensive and customizable solution for managing complex sweepstakes and giveaway promotions. Giveaway Gator offers advanced features like multiple concurrent giveaways, entry multipliers, product-specific bonus entries, bonus entry discount codes, and integration with Shopify Flow. This sophistication comes at the cost of potentially higher complexity in setup and management. Giveaway Gator is likely better suited for merchants looking to run sophisticated giveaways that incentivize specific actions, increase AOV, and deeply integrate with their store's marketing and sales strategies. The minimal review data currently available significantly impacts the perception of both apps, with Giveaway Gator holding a substantial advantage based on its single 5-star rating, although a single rating can be unreliable.

Our Verdict
If a merchant's primary goal is to quickly and easily build an email list through a straightforward product giveaway contest, Free Gift Contest Popup appears to be the more suitable option, even with the lack of reviews. However, merchants should be cautious due to the absence of social proof. If the merchant is looking for a robust and highly customizable giveaway management system that allows for multiple concurrent sweepstakes, bonus entries, and integration with marketing automation tools, Giveaway Gator is the better choice, despite having only one review.
Merchants considering Giveaway Gator should be prepared to invest time in learning and configuring its advanced features. Both apps lack substantial social proof due to limited or absent reviews, so merchants should carefully evaluate their needs and potentially contact the developers for demos or trials before committing to either app.
