Our Verdict
The choice between FreshBooks Link by CarryTheOne and Simple Affiliate depends entirely on the merchant's primary business needs. If the priority is simplifying accounting, automating tax reporting (especially with complex tax jurisdictions), and integrating with FreshBooks, then FreshBooks Link is the logical choice. However, the low review count is concerning and warrants further investigation. If the goal is to grow sales through affiliate marketing, build a network of brand ambassadors, and automate affiliate management, then Simple Affiliate is the clear winner. Its high rating and numerous positive reviews demonstrate its effectiveness and ease of use. Given the available data, unless a merchant has a very specific and pressing need for deep FreshBooks integration and complex tax handling, Simple Affiliate is the more compelling option due to its positive user feedback.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on ratings and reviews, Simple Affiliate is likely easier to set up and use. The description emphasizes ease of use and customizability, and the high rating (5/5) with many reviews (82) supports this. FreshBooks Link by CarryTheOne has a significantly lower rating (3.3/5) and only 2 reviews, suggesting potentially higher complexity or less user-friendly onboarding.
Which app is better for handling complex international taxes?
FreshBooks Link by CarryTheOne is specifically designed to handle complex international taxes, including US and Canada Sales Tax, Australian & New Zealand GST, UK & European VAT. While Simple Affiliate manages 1099 tax forms for affiliate payouts, it does not address the complexities of sales tax calculation and reporting in different jurisdictions.
Can I use both apps simultaneously?
Yes, it is possible to use both apps simultaneously. FreshBooks Link by CarryTheOne automates accounting and tax reporting, while Simple Affiliate focuses on affiliate marketing. They address different aspects of business operations and don't directly compete with each other.
Which app is more suitable for a small business just starting out?
The suitability depends on the business's priorities. If the business is actively seeking to grow through affiliate marketing and has a limited budget for traditional advertising, Simple Affiliate is the better choice. If accounting is a primary concern and the business already uses FreshBooks, FreshBooks Link by CarryTheOne might be helpful, but the lack of reviews is a risk.
Does Simple Affiliate integrate with FreshBooks?
The provided data does not mention any integration between Simple Affiliate and FreshBooks. FreshBooks Link by CarryTheOne is the app that specifically integrates with FreshBooks.
