Friendbuy: Referrals & Loyalty vs Loyoly ‑ Loyalty and Referralfor Shopify (2026)
Friendbuy: Referrals & Loyalty and Loyoly ‑ Loyalty and Referral both aim to boost customer acquisition and retention through loyalty and referral programs. However, they adopt different approaches. Friendbuy focuses on a more traditional referral and loyalty system with automation, integrations, A/B testing and fraud detection. Its strength lies in providing a structured, potentially more enterprise-grade, solution focusing on customer acquisition costs and conversion tracking, targeting merchants needing a robust system with fraud protection. Loyoly, on the other hand, positions itself as a modern solution that focuses on building brand ambassadors by incentivizing customers to create user-generated content (UGC) and engage with the brand in various ways beyond just purchases and referrals. The main distinction lies in their feature sets. Friendbuy emphasizes customizable templates, comprehensive reporting, and fraud detection, implying a more automated and hands-off approach after initial setup. Loyoly highlights a library of over 40 missions to encourage engagement (e.g., UGC, reviews, social sharing) offering a more diverse range of actions to reward. Loyoly emphasizes a quick setup and integration, suggesting a greater focus on ease of use and quick implementation for merchants looking to get started quickly. While Friendbuy boasts integrations, Loyoly is more upfront with its 'easy setup' to get started. The difference comes down to whether a business wants to prioritize easy setup, lots of options for actions to reward, or advanced tracking and anti-fraud for basic referrals and loyalty programs.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing reducing customer acquisition costs (CPA) with a focus on traditional referral and loyalty programs, especially those needing robust fraud protection and A/B testing, Friendbuy is likely the better choice. The emphasis on comprehensive reporting and integrations suggests a more data-driven and potentially enterprise-level approach. However, the limited number of reviews might warrant additional research and testing. For merchants seeking to create a more engaging and interactive loyalty program, centered around UGC and diverse customer actions, Loyoly is the stronger contender. The focus on building a brand community through 40+ missions caters to businesses prioritizing brand ambassadorship over solely transactional rewards. The higher number of reviews, and the 'easy setup' suggest greater user satisfaction.
