FT GeoRedirect vs GeoLocation+Currency Converterfor Shopify (2026)
In 2026, FT GeoRedirect and GeoLocation+Currency Converter both aim to help Shopify merchants target customers based on their geographic location, but they differ significantly in feature sets and user reception. FT GeoRedirect focuses primarily on redirection or blocking users based on their country of origin, offering precise geolocation detection and slug URL redirection. It positions itself as a straightforward tool for managing traffic and increasing revenue for merchants selling in multiple regions. GeoLocation+Currency Converter, on the other hand, provides a more comprehensive suite of features. Beyond simple redirection (at the country or state level), it includes currency conversion, language options, and the ability to present redirect pop-ups. Its functionality extends to blocking malicious IPs and tracking redirects via campaign parameters. This app targets merchants who want a more personalized and localized shopping experience for their customers, including the critical element of multi-currency support that FT GeoRedirect lacks. The significantly higher rating and existing user base of GeoLocation+Currency Converter suggest greater user satisfaction and a proven track record. The key difference lies in the breadth of features and the perceived value. FT GeoRedirect offers basic geo-redirection, while GeoLocation+Currency Converter offers a broader localization solution.

Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants solely focused on basic country-based redirection or blocking and prioritizing simplicity, FT GeoRedirect might be a starting point, *if* they are willing to take a chance on an unproven app. However, given its lack of reviews and limited features, it's a riskier choice.
GeoLocation+Currency Converter is the stronger option for the majority of merchants, especially those targeting international markets. Its comprehensive feature set, including currency conversion, language support, and the ability to block malicious IPs, provides a more robust and user-friendly experience for both the merchant and the customer. The existing positive reviews further support its reliability and effectiveness. Merchants prioritizing a full localization solution and the ability to personalize the customer journey should clearly choose GeoLocation+Currency Converter.
