Fulfil vs Materials Inventoryfor Shopify (2026)
Fulfil and Materials Inventory both aim to help Shopify merchants with inventory management, but they target significantly different segments of the market. Fulfil is a comprehensive cloud ERP solution designed for larger eCommerce and wholesale businesses operating at scale. Its strength lies in its extensive feature set, integrating order management, warehouse management, purchasing, manufacturing, and financials into a single platform. It explicitly supports B2B operations. In contrast, Materials Inventory focuses on the needs of makers and manufacturers managing raw materials and finished goods, particularly for those prioritizing ease of use and raw material cost tracking. Materials Inventory offers a more streamlined approach, focusing on synchronizing raw material and product inventory, generating purchase orders, and tracking profitability. It emphasizes intuitive use and real-time inventory updates. While Fulfil touts its 100% open API for customization and complex operations, Materials Inventory prioritizes out-of-the-box simplicity and quick implementation. The difference is also visible in the number of integrations. Fulfil integrates different modules, whereas Materials Inventory focuses mainly on inventory management.

Our Verdict
For larger eCommerce and wholesale businesses requiring a full-fledged ERP system with integrated order management, warehouse management, manufacturing, and financials, Fulfil is the better choice, especially if B2B functionality is a priority. Its open API also allows for extensive customization. However, for smaller makers and manufacturers seeking a straightforward and easy-to-use inventory management solution primarily focused on raw materials and product tracking, Materials Inventory is the more appropriate option. While Fulfil's feature set is more extensive, Materials Inventory excels in simplicity and quick setup for businesses with less complex needs. The relatively small number of reviews for Fulfil may indicate a smaller user base or that they have a more targeted customer that they are attempting to attract.
