Gather: Refer a Friend vs Promo Jetfor Shopify (2026)
Gather: Refer a Friend and Promo Jet are both Shopify apps in the 'Promotions - Other' category, but they address fundamentally different acquisition and promotion strategies. Gather focuses on leveraging existing customers to acquire new customers through a referral program, promising a high ROAS, low CPA acquisition channel. It allows merchants to embed referral experiences, deploy tiered reward systems, and tailor programs for sales growth or lead generation. In contrast, Promo Jet aims to maximize revenue and reduce customer acquisition cost by optimizing discounts and running promotions, offering features such as discount banners, daily deals, and scheduled sales. It emphasizes a diverse range of discount rules, including country-wise discounts and purchase power parity discounts, to attract new customers and boost sales.

Our Verdict
For merchants with a strong existing customer base and a desire to tap into referral marketing, Gather: Refer a Friend appears to be the stronger choice, evidenced by its perfect rating and existing reviews. It is more about leveraging existing assets. However, if the primary goal is to rapidly increase sales through discounts, sales, and promotions, and reach a diverse audience with location and parity pricing, Promo Jet presents a wider range of tools to support those strategies. However, a merchant should proceed with extreme caution due to the zero rating and lack of reviews, signaling the app might not be stable or fully functional. Gather is the safer initial bet until Promo Jet proves its efficacy.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on the descriptions, Gather seems to prioritize ease of use with its 'click of a button' embedding and drag-and-drop editor. Promo Jet's setup might be more involved given its array of discount rules and banner customization options.
Which app provides better customer support?
Without direct evidence of support quality, Gather's positive rating and existing reviews may suggest a more reliable experience, but that can not be confirmed without use.
Can both apps be used simultaneously?
Yes, theoretically. A merchant could use Gather for referral acquisition and Promo Jet for broader sales promotions. However, it's important to monitor overlap or conflicts between the offers provided by each app.
Which app is better for a new Shopify store with limited existing customers?
Promo Jet *could* be more suitable initially, as it focuses on attracting new customers. However, caution is warranted given the lack of ratings/reviews. A new store might focus on building a customer base before implementing Gather's referral program.
Which app is more affordable?
Pricing information is not provided, but affordability should be assessed by the merchant, who should compare the available pricing plans and features of each app with respect to their budget and needs.
