GD: Country blocker IP blocker vs Geolocation & Markets—Selectyfor Shopify (2026)
GD: Country blocker IP blocker and Geolocation & Markets—Selecty are both Shopify apps within the Geolocation category, designed to enhance the international customer experience. However, they appear to cater to different needs. GD: Country blocker IP blocker, implied by the name, likely focuses on blocking traffic based on country or IP address, potentially for regulatory compliance or managing specific market access. Geolocation & Markets—Selecty, on the other hand, aims to boost global sales by providing a localized shopping experience, including currency conversion, language selection, and market recommendations. It seems aimed at merchants actively leveraging Shopify Markets or Global-e Managed Markets. The primary difference lies in their core functionality: one blocks, the other actively markets. While GD: Country blocker IP blocker's purpose is inherently defensive, Geolocation & Markets—Selecty is offensive, geared toward maximizing international sales potential through localization and market-specific targeting. The stark difference in the number of reviews (2 vs. 262) suggests Selecty has significantly wider adoption and a longer track record, providing more social proof for its effectiveness and reliability.

Our Verdict
Geolocation & Markets—Selecty is generally the stronger choice for merchants aiming to actively grow international sales through localization, offering a comprehensive suite of features and significantly more social proof. Its integration with Shopify Markets and Global-e Managed Markets makes it especially valuable for merchants utilizing those platforms.
GD: Country blocker IP blocker is suitable for a niche set of merchants who require strict control over which countries can access their store, likely due to legal restrictions, licensing agreements, or other specific reasons for limiting access. The extremely limited number of reviews makes it difficult to gauge its reliability and ease of use compared to Selecty.
